The power stopper of the 2 series is the exhaust port. Its never going to flow the amount of air as 3 series.. They still make tons of torque but don't rev like 3 series!

I had no idea you already built one with finger ports in it. I also think of finger ports as extra transfer ports. They're my go to porting move in a 660 clone, I leave the ports pretty much stock then grind the fingers into them and they run nice. If I built another 272 it'll get them too, the last one just had some clean up work and no gasket.

I ran a 268XP top end on one of my 266’s and wasn’t all that impressed. Transfers and intake are bigger on 268, but it’s also got a bigger combustion chamber. Even put a Hyway pop-up piston in it and still didn’t have the grunt I was expecting. Put the 266 cylinder back on it with an eliminator kit and she’s a ripper now. Should also mention I ran the same (266XP) carb and muffler on both cylinders.
