Thank you for a great piece about one of Britain’s most formidable novelists, whose work is as relevant today as it was then. All her books are wonderful portraits of characters that, even today, we can recognise in the people around us. And the true sadness is that, had she lived longer, we would have had even more of her great books to delight and entertain us.

You have a lovely calming voice! We covered "Northanger Abbey" for my GCE "O-level" (as it was known then)! I loved it! That was 50 years ago. I'm 67 now! Wow! Time flies. Thank you for the memories ❤

Very nice video with charming illustrations. I think what people today like about her books is a sense of a more settled and predictable society - economically and politically - than we currently enjoy.
