What a sad story. It shows you can have riches and titles but it doesn’t guarantee happiness. Great video as always, Jon!

Loneliness is more than enough for 2 people to have in common. However, its a shame he showed himself unworthy of her love, gifts, and lifestyle.

It's unfortunate when a relationship doesn't work out, but sometimes it's for the best.

@HistoryRoadshow I don't like to.assume she was just another victim. Perhaps he made her feel young and beautiful again and for that, some people would give everything they had.

It's interesting to see how the personal lives of historical figures can have such an impact on future generations.

Indomitable spirit? As portrayed, she sounds fragile, emotionally dysregulated and abandoned by family. She was vulnerable and her family did not stop the emotional exploitation around her. That's a very sad story.

I read her memoir. The memoir is moderately interesting, but the last chapter, about her meeting with & love for Zoubkov is heartbreaking. She must have thought he was Alexander of Battenberg reincarnated (I think).

What a sad life. Seems that Queen Victoria's children and grands had many issues of their own to deal with.

I would have sympathy for her families’ interference and control of her love life except that was overshadowed by who and what her brother was. Their parents are a good study on the importance of paying attention to your children. Psycho Willie was tortured and unloved as a child.
