Jane and Peter Fonda are such good story tellers. I can see it in all their interviews.

People like her tried to make Earth a better place to live. And they did. I am sorry that some veterans can't see that Vietnam activism didn't aim at the American soldiers but at the politicians who cause wars for, as a Nobelist Greek poet would say, "an empty shirt"

If you ever have the chance to read Peter Fonda's autobiography, do so. Worth it if you are interested in acting, Hollywood, 1960s counter-culture movement, etc. I love both Peter and his sister Jane - great actors - just like their father.

I just ordered from the the library. I read The Fonda's a few years ago. A pretty good book. I have Henry, the siblings, and Bridget in various projects. A true talented family. I had no idea Peter and Jane were both married 3X. NTM, each have a son and daughter. The siblings were cute as kids. I'm they forgave Henry before he died.

Ohhhhh Jane & that " Klute-do" ! That's what she was wearing that day when I met her, albeit briefly, & no doubt she would not remember, but I did. Downtown Denver, at old Zeckendorf Plaza, an anti-war rally, she was wearing no make up at all---jeans--a green army shirt & pea -coat. I walked up, shook her hand-, she looked right at me, & I saw the most beautiful woman on this earth. Those luminous green eyes smiled right at me , & the world stopped. -----Such intelligence, passion, & all -woman, beauty ! -----It was Spring, 1969. -----------WolfSky9, 71 y/o

Jane started as "middle of the road" (Barefoot in the Park etc), Peter as the rebel (The Wild Angels, etc), but as time went on, Jane became more the rebel, and Peter's film-making arc started to settle into more mainstream films. They both had terrific on-screen presence, as did their dad, regardless of what one might think of them positive or negative, right or left and all that. I recall that a prominent actor like Cary Grant had pretty much an across-the-board appeal as an actor, yet, personally, he was exploring things considered "radical", like taking LSD. Separating actor from personal lives seems has long been a challenge.

It proves no matter how old you are, you never get over parental neglect or a parent dying. Case in point, Ryan O' Neill, three kids have substance issues. Don't get me started on "momma pimp", Kris Jenner. At least Drew Barrymore got her act together. Another classic case would be John Lennon. I just read books on the talented Fonda siblings, they were really eye-opening. Their heydays was before I was born. At least both did better with their offspring. I wonder how Amy and Pan's kids turned out. Their first step mom Susan Blanchard seemed like a nice lady.

Janet's only flaw is not to understand at that point in the 60's and 70;s she was not "helping " Americans, with such open hostility, a time when vets would come home from hell only to receive more animosity like the war was their fault !!! Soldiers they were duing their job the same as they are duing today in Iraq you do what your country orders to and need you to do, and she being a famous public celebrity was wrong not to keep her mouth shut! or keep it nice with the enemy. That is the only thing i will never forgive her for. For the rest a great woman. At least she learned her lesson to keep her political opinions to herself., when it is needed.....
