Wonderful to see more Jane Morgan footage. I have been a huge fan of this lady for many years, great to see this.

She is still alive and kicking at 97! Let’s hope we don’t lose her next, we’ve already lost too many 😔

She recently did an in-depth career interview that can be found here on youtube. Still lovely and sharp as a tack.

Another full medley as it's meant to be seen and heard; thank you Ed Sullivan channel! We even had an encore here, which you don't see very often in general. Always a delight to hear the pure, true voice of Jane Morgan! Thank you for this performance!

Episode guide lists this as one of 11 "Pre-recorded" shows that aired in the summer of '61. Kind of mysterious. When did they have time to do that?
@TomElvisSmith2 жыл бұрын
@@MostlyBrenda Some of the summer shows in the '60's were pre-recorded. It was a practice they continued throughout the decade.

Love this! Is it my imagination, or are the songs being sung in a lower key?
@TomElvisSmith2 жыл бұрын
@@kade82 There's something like that going on here. It seems like Jane is holding back a bit in this performance, singing in more of a crooner style, because she could really belt out the songs.

Classic Rodgers and Hammerstein songs beautifully sung by a showbiz legend!
@showtunestarpower10 ай бұрын
This was probably one of the first presentations of THE SOUND OF MUSIC songs on TV. I love the fact that the tempo and the orchestration of the title song is close to the original. Morgan takes a pure approach - obeying every rhythm and every note that Rodgers wrote. I love hearing his music song with a minimum of embellishments. I don't think Mary Martin ever appeared on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW. Did she have an exclusive contract with NBC during this era?

I have always enjoyed JM's singing and overall approach to music. As a fellow classically-trained singer, I can't help but wonder why she chose to sing in such low keys. The same question could be asked about Jo Stafford.

Would you believe I have a Top 40 Hits book that states that Jane Morgan died in 1974??? They also have her birth year, name, and town incorrect!
@Kat-pl4se Жыл бұрын
There was another Jane Morgan who was on TV with Eve Arden and died decades ago.
@carmenfrisicaro9890 Жыл бұрын
@@Kat-pl4se You are correct. That Jane died in 1972. But the Top 40 book is clearly referring to the Jane who is still alive by referencing her hit 'Fascination' and that her real last name is Currier.

The channel manipulated the original video by editing the intro shot again at 3:59. Not sure what they were trying to hide, but wish they would knock it off.
