I make these all the time now. To get them uniform size, scoop burger mash stuff with a 1/3 c measuring cup. They were perfect. I baked them on parchment at 350F for 25 min. They freeze beautifully as Ann suggested. Thanks for the best bean burgers I've ever had. Perfect! Love you two.

OK...I made a double batch pretty much like your recipe and froze most of them per Ann's suggestion. We drove up to Sedona early this morning to hike and took frozen kale burgers (and homemade granola bars) for trail food. Oh, my goodness!!!!! When eaten cold like that kale burgers taste very much like our old favorite deep-fried bean burritos from Taco Time. (Of course, we haven't eaten those fat bombs for over a decade.) I think kale burgers will be a great addition to our travel food repertoire. Next week we have an overnight kayak trip planned in Northern AZ. Guess what we're going to eat? Thanks so much for these videos and all your cookbooks and well all the cool stuff you all do to help me and mine live healthy, happy lives. I don't want to rust as I get older. I hope you see this.

Sometimes when a recipe looks daunting, it isn't. It's just that it's so different from what you're used to. Sweet potatoes in a burger I thought? But now I feel more confident after watching you put it together, that I'm gathering all I need to make these. THANKS MUCH!!!!!!

If you mean products at the stores, I find plenty available (but I’m in California)...What I see missing is whole plant based foods available hot and ready to eat. Even Whole Foods butternut squash soup has butter and cream in it...not one hot soup that is vegan in any given month. Yes, a bean soup, a dahl, a curry soup, a veggie bisque but basically always with dairy or poultry in there somehow. It’s a bit odd.

I am not a total vegan, but I had gallbladder issues for about a year (not knowing that's what was causing such severe nausea I had never experienced before). My doctor recommended surgery to remove my gallbladder and I said NO WAY. after a lot of prayer I felt that God directed me to Google how to eat for a healthy gallbladder. Well I found out lots of veggies, fruits and whole wheat. My search brought me to your channel and I am so excited to see how you make eating healthy easy and fun. I have lost 50 lbs and have not had any issues for 6 months. I love all the recipes and even my family and friends are getting interested and eating some of the things I learned from you. So I ran into the kitchen, made several substitutions and still had some nice burgers--will eat the rest of the batch for supper. I've made a few different bean-burgers before and hardly ever follow a recipe to the letter. This time I used: leftover rice, Irish potato, chickpeas, onion, garlic, jalapeno, Hatch chili powder, Worchestershire, ACV, and a bit of whole wheat flour for gluten (OATS!--just remembered what I forgot! noted). Served with fresh spinach. CANNOT wait to do it all again with sweet potato and cannellinis and mushrooms. Hope the weather gives some fresh oysters in the woods. Thank you ladies!

It's great you made them with substitutions. I have everything I need for these except Sriracha but I'm sure I can work out a substitute, maybe a little miso and chilli powder or something. Not identical but you've given me ideas there. Thanks.

@wadepatton2433 4 жыл бұрын
@@Equinox1.5 Sriracha is merely a spicy sauce, plenty of ways to sub for that. Last night a made some katsup from tomato paste, because store-bought has 0.8 teaspoons of sugar (corn sweetener) per serving. To the paste I added unsweetened applesauce, ACV, onion and garlic powders, plus cayenne sauce. It's TASTY!

@Equinox1.5 4 жыл бұрын
@@wadepatton2433 Great idea. Thanks. I used tomato paste and chilli flakes today but it needed something more. The Sriracha would have magnified the garlic and chilli flavours but I might have the ingredients for your sauce, if I can find my cayenne.

In case these tips are helpful for others: Don't have a non-stick fry pan? I cook the onions and garlic and mushrooms just fine in a regular fry pan by keeping the heat low and doing other prep work while it gently heats. Once the mushrooms release their juice, there's more than enough juice which I save for soups/grains. I use a coffee grinder to make oat flour since I thought my father would prefer that in his burgers (the grinder is not used for coffee, only oats and flax and such like.)

The microwaved food is perfectly safe. Any potential harm from microwaves comes from being too near the thing while it is running. I load mine and walk away. Dr. Greger has videos examining studies on how various methods of cooking affect the nutrition content of foods. Microwaving is fine. I too use iron and steel (dating back over 100 years old) most of the time--and an instant pot the rest of the time, some stainless saucepans and stock pots.

No need to fear microwaves or non-stick, but that's not what we're here for...we're here for recipes!

I guess it is all about who you follow as a plant based doc... Dr Greger is pro microwave. Dr. Barnard says no cast iron cookware, bad for the brain - Alzheimers... It can be so confusing to know what is best ... I've yet to hear anything negative about stainless steel.

@@pda2836 I don't follow any one person, I study dozens. Barnard says cast iron rusts if you leave it in the rain--mine doesn't because I well know how to keep cast iron seasoned for cooking purposes (but it involves oils or fats-and that's not good for us to eat--I minimize those things to suit me, not him). Methinks waterpipes are a much more troublesome cause of metals contamination. Both these guys are simply trying to lead us by the information they have come to believe. NO one breaks down studies and info more thoroughly than MG. There is no function served by teflon in my body, so I avoid it for cooking ware. It's ALL ABOUT learning as much as you can from the best sources and making your best compromises/decisions based upon that knowledge. It's about being informed and healthy, and helping others do the same. And it's not easy with so many millions spent pushing the junk onto us.

LOVE this video and it inspired me to get the cookbook from the library. It’s so fun to watch the recipes come to life in your kitchen, you two are a hoot! My mom loves watching your videos too. These burgers are absolutely fabulous, so healthful and my husband loved them. He is usually so picky! Can’t wait to make more recipes. Thank you so much!
