Jane, that looks beyond wonderful! Love the way you put it together - a little bit of this and a little bit of that and it becomes your special secret recipe. I bet it smells as good as it looks and tastes. I just finished having a salad from my garden. I picked some okra this morning and will have more ready this week. The kale and collard greens are still looking good, too. I have my sweet potatoes in the garage curing now. Since we had a couple of nights near freezing, I picked the tomatoes that were almost ready and have them in the kitchen to finish ripening. It's no wonder fall is my favorite time of year.
@JanesGrowingGarden3 ай бұрын
It's my favourite time of year too! The kale added a lovely touch to this - I think if I didn't grow it I probably wouldn't think about buying it from the shops but we can all try something different in our gardens can't we! I'm yet to try okra - maybe one for next year ... Thank you.

That kale looks like Red Russian. Didn't grow it this year, but it's a tasty one. I made a back yard grocery store dinner tonight. Leek, Chard, Tomatoes, Garlic, Habanadas and Herbs were grown....but I did add some rice and cheese which were not.....however, it was a lovely and delicious meal.

Yep - Red Russian - it's amazing how different the varieties can taste isn't it. Your meal sounds delicious - I think the fact the ingredients are so fresh bumps up the flavour no end! Thanks Robin x

Hi Jane, looked lovely, I do like to make a stew or stir fry from the garden. The kale is Red (ursa) Russian.

Great video! That's as local as can be, and what you cut off can go straight into the compost, or on the floor if you lose some. My season is pretty much over, I ate the last two green beans straight off the plant today and chopped it into the bed. I didn't think my peas were worth saving as they looked rotten, so I just left them in the bed earlier and they've sprouted and I had a tiny pea shoot snack too. Still got a few small carrots and one kohlrabi left to harvest, and several frozen herbs, but must buy some more ingredients for my stew/soup or what I'll make out of it. I've been thinking it's not really worth the time and space to grow onions and garlic as they are quite cheap to buy, but to get the satisfaction of a fully own-grown meal, it definitely is.
@JanesGrowingGarden3 ай бұрын
I really didn't think we had that much left until I started to think about it - I was tempted to add some beetroot but I think it would have ended up a slightly different colour! I bet you're looking forward to that kohl rabi - I'm sure it will be treasured! Thank you.
