Really enjoyed your plot tour Jane. ❤ The highs and lows of Jane's allotment 😂 Seriously though you have some lovely crops there. I'm loving how Mike's allotment has come on and his shed is looking good too. A nice load of tomatoes and the grapes look delicious 😋. Lovely big onions too. Have a fab week ❤️ x

I tried this several years ago! The first year they worked great, after that they weathered from all our rain in the PNW of the U.S. and they rusted, creating a huge problem with them disintegrating and leaving masses if tiny shards of metal in my soil. I suspect user error in leaving them in place after summer.
@JanesGrowingGarden5 күн бұрын
That’s a really good point. The ones that are still in place have worked well but I’ll try to remember to clear them when I harvest. Thank you!

A lovely uplifting video Jane. It's great when the harvests start rolling in. The shot of everything on the table was lovely. Those dahlias are cracking. I am getting so much chard but I'm ashamed to say I never know what to do with it other than soups and stir fries. The chickens and quail get loads of it too. Love your array of trugs. All the best. Mags

Yes I think our chickens benefit from the chard as much as we do! I might try freezing some this year but not sure how it will turn out. It's good to know we finally get some food for all of our efforts isn't it?! Thanks Mags x

It’s a marrogette Ofcourse!! Lovely harvest Jane. I’ve grown honeycombe toms this year instead of sungold too and I completely agree what a lovely sweet favour. When you talk about eating a crop before it goes home this is what I do with these. It’s a good job there always lots to harvest. I’m not a fan of raw peas tbh. I do 😊love your shed what a cosy place to be in. So many lovely flowers on your plot too. Ps how Mike getting on with his new plot?

Eeeeks! I’m still direct sowing coriander!! 😂 I know what you mean though, Jane! I’m just about done with this year’s garden. We have also today sown a few lines of tendergreen stem in the seed bed to transplant - if they survive slugs - in the hope of a possible Indian summer as an experiment. And I intend to scatter some home saved parsley seeds (that have taken ALL YEAR to flower and go to seed) around the base of the bean tunnels. But no more module sowing!!! So…… what are you sowing? 😁 Maybe you can grab some interesting starts from Malvern….. ?
@JanesGrowingGarden10 күн бұрын
Ha ha - I'm sure I'll be sowing something. I just think the MUST and HAVE TO used in a lot of thumbnails are a touch scary - especially if you're new to gardening. Oh I'm sure there'll be some sneaky purchases made at Malvern ...!

Shame about the beans but I’m glad all the squash did well, funny enough my zephyr are prolific but they are up off the ground too. It’s been an odd year and seems to have gone by so quickly. Have a super fall season is all we can hope for, Ali ☔️🇨🇦 glad the squash did great Mike and yes the partial eclipse are like a patty pan 👍👍 but they don’t look like that 😂😂 they are more stripy green so perhaps (say it isn’t so) mislabeled and it’s just a green patty pan
