I have always seen Robyn as the wedge that split the family. Imo, she's co dependent and has lured him into her web by preying on his insecurities and building up his ''manliness''. He feels like a king around her. We've seen him abuse the family, e.g. Meri wanted to try IVF again, but he said no; he refused to take his daughter for more Scoliosis consultations because he'd had ''enough''; and, he abruptly moved the family to Flagstaff, despite their objections, in the middle of the school year and wrestling season causing his son to lose scholarship opportunities. Denial is important because how else can her brain face the whole picture .. she is also so close and in the middle of all of it to see the big picture. When victims leave their abuser, they spend years realising how worse it was and sadly it is always worse.
