kerak = crust, the dried toasted part on the bottom of the wok/pan when you overcook things, telor you know = egg. Betawi is the ancient name of Jakarta, derived from Batavia the name given by the Dutch when they conquered Indonesia.

Betawi is the indigeneous ethnic group of Jakarta. Back then Jakarta was called Batavia during the dutch colonial era. Betawi, Batavia sounds quite similar right?
