If you have a lot of Guardsmen try to get each battlegroup their commissar, they make a substantial difference in their effectiveness and can do surprisingly well for a mere human hero unit. Like tank commander will with a group of tanks and Imperial Guard can have a lot of these to deliver wall of guns on their enemies who now has no miss chance with extra armor penetration.

The commissars "bring it down" ability is very op specially when you end up with a bunch of commissars

9:08 Indeed rather odd you are doing more damage, despite loosing a lot of Blast damage. Morale break penalties have clear coloration and traits on the unit. Does not appear to be such a case. I do not think it is the nearby Sentinels either. My best guess is that the Blast bonus was flipped to a penalty somehow. 17:00 "The little Guard Squad that could." 22:10 Normal Neutral units are tightly leashed to their spawn point and will return if they ever chase too far. Like how the Enslaver will never stray to far from the Psicaster they spawned to guard. I think the Guardsman was a exception, because it was not originally a neutral unit. That might give it a different AI. 30:00 The finale of that particular mission had a annoying 20 turn timelimit. Be sure you are ready to deal with that random BS.
