This guy was so awesome. Hopefully one day we'll get an album of unreleased stuff. His solo album was great...

@@patrickreeves4650 that's what you think! I own all the rights to all my music....stay tuned for a release with new lyrics. Jani wrote these lyrics to remind me of what Warrant did, long long ago.....based off a true event!

@ElizabethSanto22 Im going to tell you a true story. Long ago, back around 1976 I think because it was before I turned 18 and moved to Florida, Iwas told to show up in a parking lot in Bladensburg MD. Jani was there, restrained by 2 men, and Warrant band members. Jani was bleeding and beaten. Police arrived. I was told to get rid of the cop, or they would shoot him, then Jani and I. So I did. Warrant was very upset because they found out I was the composer. I was put into a black car, pistol whipped, unconscience. I woke up duck taped to the high speed train tracks nearby, with a bright light of a train approaching. I tried to break free, but couldn't. The conductor stopped about 10 feet from me. Police arrived. I was confused. Police took me to Mt parents home, since I was underage and told my parents I was drunk, duck taped myself to the tracks trying to commit suicide. I explained how these guys hit me,poured booze on me. My neck was ducktaped to the track, my arms behind my back, and legs were ducktaped, and my mouth. I couldn't remember what happened until now. Jani showed up after I was severely attacked in my parents basement with an axe. Jani thought I wouldn't survive, so I stayed up all night with him, as he recorded all the music for Dog eats Dog album. Jani made up lyrics from our conversation that night. We both designed the album cover. My mother kept bringing encyclopedia 's into my room, so Jani could sketch the Missouri river and volcano correctly. The music industry was very dangerous back on the late 60's, early 70's...:-( The first song I wrote was at age 4, where I co-wrote Mr Tambourine man with Gene Clark, when he was a roadie for a band my father was filming for extra money. That band member took our song and read half of it before my father got it off of him. My father always kept his camera rolling, and I did the sound checks. I had my father give Gene a copy of that film. My father also gave him bus fare back to CA, since he was fired on the spot, as a roadie. I'm working on a book, for non profit, you might find interesting...;-) I traveled with the Beatles, since my father was filming them, when they got their MBE awards from Queen Elizebeth II. I sat next to George, who taught me a little about music and how to play a tambourine. I also flew that private jet for about 15 minutes, on the pilots lap. My father didn't think it was a good idea, but I had fun when the pilot had me turn the plane to 9:00...;-) (I don't think the Beatles knew about that...;-) ) Elvis Presley gave me my first guitar at age 5, to cheer me up, after 4 serial killers attacked me in Baltimore MD. My family was put into the FBI's Victim witness protection program, that's why I decided to help other musicians. Frank Zappa offered me a contract when I was 11, but I turned it down, since I couldn't go public. I dropped out of ghe music scene by age 18. I did keep in touch with George Michael, since we knew each other as kids, and I composed for him. He was an snfel sent by God to help me long ago. When Wham split up, I wrote two albums for George. He wrote his own lyrics. He and Andrew spent a few Christmases with my family long ago. We were engaged briefly at one time. The last time I saw him, was after that incident in CA. He had to see me, since we had an agreement that went with those two albums. I laughed and told him to just tell the truth...Which he did...:-) Anyway, nowadays I play a 12 string, a little drums, and it might take me years to play my violin ...;-) Funny thing is, I never learned how to read music and still only know about 5 chords. I make up the rest! That's how I wrote the music for Smoke on the water...I was looking for low notes...:-) And I wanted their lyrics changed to Smoke in the air, but they refused....so I said it was ok...;-) Jani changed his lyrics I didn't like....beneath the lucid burning skies are Jani's original lyrics. That's how I sing it now...:-) You have to understand something, I never put alot of time into music. It was easy for me. At age 7 I became a licensed physician in PA. I graduated Valedictorian from Harvard Law school before I was 17. I scored the highest when I passed the Bar. I went back to college and studied Mechanical Engineering which I later changed to Criminal Justice, which I'm still about 7 credits shy of my Associate degree. I always encouraged other musicians to stay in school. Some did, some didnt.didn't. You know, I never composed for money. Other musicians used to laugh at me, shen I was 17, and working after-school at Montgomery Wards, making $3.35 an hour...lol But I wanted yo be around all kinds of people, and prove that in the United States you can start out at a minimum wage job and still make it! Is is easy, no, but it can be done...:-) I also stayed in public school, until I graduated at age 17, from Bladensburg Vo Tech. high school, where I studied welding, auto mechanics, sheet metal and a little plumbing. My parents wanted me around people my own age. I also modeled when I was young. The Mickey Mouse club wanted me when I was a kid, but my mother said no. I also worked in federal law enforcement for about 15 years, and retired as a Sergeant after my last on duty injury back in 1997. So Jani's family needs yo stay strong! Just get a hold of me if they need me in court... -) Have you heard Marylin Mansons remake of Your so Vein? That started out as a sarcastic remark when they asked me what song would be a good re-make. I was blown away on how they re-did that song. I did add something to the drums, that J liked, and they used...;-) Just like when I worked with page and Bonham. I felt other musicians weren't getting enough credit, with a great front man like Plant, so I suggested a drum solo. Page had his solo, and it was only fair...;-) Gave my advice on a few things with the drums, and it worked out great...:-) Sorry it took me so long to remember what happened so long ago.... And for the record, when George Michael asked me to marry him again, I would have, but after all the murders of my family members, I told him he was too late. I just couldn't leave my mother and I didn't have the heart to explain everything to George...:-( I was ashamed and didn't want to embarrass my mother, who really liked George. When my 6 year old brother was murdered , my mother lost it. She drank, got on prescriptions, and attempted suicide a few times. Took me years to help her...:-( George stopped by my parents home , that time on Christmas Eve. I met him outside in the backyard. When he proposed then, I said yes, but George wanted to tell my mother, then reality set in for me, so J told him no. It was just before midnight and it started to snow...which hid my tears...:-( I also felt George would be safer away from me. I was never going to get back to music , but it's in my heart...:-) My mother is now in Heaven with her children...:-) That's another reason why I decided to go public after all these years. Anx O knew Alice Cooper way before I met Jani. When Alice met my mother, it was so embarrassing. My mother was from Pa and had a unique way of heating up sardines. She would open the can, lightly put the lid on it, then place it roght on the burner of the gas stove. She offered some to Alice, who I introduced as Alex. I tried to keep my family out of my songwriting...:-) And my mother was very old fashioned. Would be cool to have Johnny Depp play ghis song I wrote, and Alice singing it...;-) For Jani...:-) And that night Jani and I were attacked, I saw that Bladesnburg police officer later on and explained how close he was to getting shot that night. He stated he responded to a large fight in the parking lot, adjacent to Annapolis rd.

Great!!! Don't let the title of the song, "Serial Killer" scare you off..This song was written to educate people on how easy it is for serial killers to get to someone...and that you can get away if you play your cards right... .Listen to the middle of the song... Guess who? LOL Great Song!!! Jani Lane was a very good friend of mine back in the early seventies when I wrote music and he wrote lyrics for it...the most beautiful lyrics...Thank you Jani for keeping my identity private...I shall miss him until I see him again...my blood brother....may he RIP...

Katrina Bishop Jani didn't help me write the music, he only wrote the lyrics...sometimes from our private conversations...:-) I wrote music for many great artists, like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Areosmith, ZzTop, Frank Zappa, AC/DC, Queen, Sonny Bono, Stevi Nicks, Michael Jackson, Ted Nuggent, George Michael, Wham, Boston, Styx! Stevi Ray Vaugn, Beck, White Snake, Tom Petty, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Whitney Houston, so, many, many more rock, country, classical Pop...I wrote about 99 songs back in the day. I wrote from age 9-12 until I injured my finger. I used to be a lead guitarists. I still play a 12 string on occasion. I made everyone swear on a Bible to keep my identity private, because I wanted to have a different career and fame would have prevented it). So you see, it's kind of funny, all the musicians know who I am, but the public doesn't. Now, I think it's important that the public knows the truth...how these great bands could take someone else's music and play it so beautifully....just like the originally creator felt it, in their heart...:-) It would be Great, to get all the Great Musicians I wrote for, (that are still around), together in one specific place, to play for everyone...:-) That is the One Favor I ask of them all....One Big Open Space...like Along the Missouri River....:-). Would you guys go?

This song is called The One That Got Away on Alice Cooper's 2008 Along Came a Spider album. I know he Jani's brother was in Alice's band at this time. Kerri Kelly I think.

According to the linear notes inside Along Came a Spider cd, Jani and his brother co-wrote this with Alice for his album.
