If arm wrestling has any hope of being a spectator sport with the big money, we'll need to adopt rules closer to the WAL. The constant foul calls and endless setups are excruciating, especially for people new to the sport who don't understand all the pre-pull grab-ass. Need bigger pads, running fouls, table mics, good commentating and automatic start in straps to eliminate the delays from purposeful slips. Having spectators 3 feet away from the table for supermatches was a genius move by the WAL.
@aimnone3 жыл бұрын
Fully agree with you there
@Dmgolfer223 жыл бұрын
Yes. Don’t think automatic straps but everything about WAL setup is perfect. None of that bs in the setup. “Close thumbs, hands, GO!” WAL start favors “fast” pullers like Janis and Matt Mask. No preloading or grabbin ass, also takes the ref out of the match which is a good thing. No high profile match should end on micro fouls. People hate on WAL, but they could see the bigger picture in regards to entertainment and appealing to casual sport fans. Every man in America grew up arm wrestling their buddies. They all are fans of arm wrestling, but they just done know it yet. Gotta make it more entertaining and fast paced. WAL was on point. I’m hoping Larry Wheels PR and Coresports will go in that direction.
@justaguyfromreddit3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely NO! Larger pads? So we can see things like Devon hanging from the table? No thanks. Already in the straps? Wanna eliminate the hand game? Plus, WAL referees are the worst ever
@Dmgolfer223 жыл бұрын
@@justaguyfromreddit WAL setup and rules has nothing to do with how good or bad a referee is.
@DallasCoryell3 жыл бұрын
@@justaguyfromreddit I used to think the WAL reffing was bad as well, until I really got into the sport and watched international competitions where the matches get stopped 10 times! I think the WAL reffing is lax on purpose because it makes it more watchable and exciting. Also we both know guys can get straps if they want; its a charade to pretend they’re actually trying to hang on. I’m not saying pads larger than WAL, but the same, to eliminate some of the fouling. King’s move is here to stay whether we like it or not...just make someone come up if they are in a losing position, and straight arm is a pin.
