The KTM X-Bow is really cool. I see it as a track car. But not with too much tech. Only enough for a great driving experience. But I love the Jannarelly. That V6, that gearbox. I thought exactly what Tiff Needell said and did. Elbow over the door, relaxing and just cruising. Then sometimes hitting that gas pedal...it's the fusion "men-mashine".

It seems the current trend is for reviewers to say "it only has 300hp but it's still nice". Reality is, anything over 300hp is redundant unless you have a race track to access. Same with ultrafast gear shifts. Some manufacturers get it, driving should be fun (if you care about actual driving). It's way more fun and challenging to wring 100% out of a decent car with a proper 3 pedal transmission and good handling, than to sit at 40% in any given M car or similar.

There is a big difference between a regular high HP car and a dedicated light weight sports car. But most people want to have their performance car every day. So I get that Maddy go for the hot hatches. Very well done, possibly the best @Lovecars videos I've seen yet! Enjoyed it, even though I'm not a fan of either car really. If I've got to have one, the Jannarelly. Never been a fan of the X-bow. Would rather have an Ariel Atom. The BAC mono may be twice the price, but worth it. And what about a (used) Lotus 3-eleven?!?! V6, open top, serious track toy. For a non GB car, how many used 911 GT3's are out there for the same money? Manual and n/a is great, but the Jannarelly just doesn't really do it for me. Morgan have been making cars that look like they're from the 60's (or before...) since the 60's. Or for £100k go and get a genuine classic! Or build/buy a restomod that means something to you. Like the video, just not the cars. How about doing a new vs used comparison video? First idea popped into my head was new 911 Turbo was old 911 turbo - a top 930, 964 or 993 are all gonna be similar to 992 money.

Soundwise i would choose the Janarelly, lookswise the janarelly to me somehow is a mixture between a TVR and a Mazda MX5 "targa" and i am not sure if that would be the thing for me. Although i prefer the analog dials. For protection in case of an accident, i would choose the KTM, i also doubt that, at least in my country the Janarelly with it's noise level (and probably emissions) could get throught the technical approval testing to legally drive it where i live. (If it is a new car, it has to match Euro6 for emissions and it has to be less than 74dB of noise on a certain test in drive buy.) For patriotic reasons i would lean to the KTM, but if the Alpine had a manual gearbox and oldschool analog dials, i would immediately take that over both of them and save a lot of money for fuel, tires and brakes.

Same problem as Lotus: too much money for the exclusivity and for what they really are at the end of the day. I would chose a Porsche any time I am sorry even if I dearly love the Jannarelly (much more than the KTM) - to compete with Porsche these guys need to undercut it (at least) in price otherwise they will never get past small series approved numbers which is probably the reward who pays (with their hearts and brainless pockets) for the exclusivity deserves...
@lovecarsTV4 жыл бұрын
Interesting points but I think this is a very different proposition to an equivalent porsche with only really the price poi t linking them. However I can certainly see the appeal over the Janarelly and vice versa. But the Porsche will certainly appeal to a wider audience without question as it will tick more boxes for more people.
