I've had this machine for a couple of months and clicked on this video looking for your tips. I was so surprised to realise that the quilt you have hanging in the background is the very same one I have literally just finished last week! I absolutely love this machine, in particular the 11in harp, the knee lift, the automatic needle threader and cutter and the easy change feet on the walking foot! Thank you for all the tips.

My accufeed foot pops out all the time. It's a design flaw for sure. I have reduced that by following the instructions in the manual and additionally holding the hook in place the entire time I am hooking the foot onto the machine. Thank you for mentioning that in this video! I knew I wasn't the only one with this issue!

I have loved this machine from the moment I bought it and I am so thankful to Auger & Sons for taking such good care of me! I recently lost my MC8000, even though it was as I considered, brand new after 25 years of not being loved. That machine was pretty much the first of the embroidery machines at a better price. I paid $3,000 for that machine and only got to use it a few times, so I was heart broken! Brad told me never to buy a two in one machine because when one fails, the other won't work either. My desire to embroider had fallen by the wayside, as my daughter was 35 by the time I got to use my machine and she was the main reason for my wanting to do it. It failed. A $3,000 machine down the drain! So 5 yrs ago I got back into quilting and have a small interest in bag making (I have two kits waiting for me) Whatever issues I may find with this 6700P are usually user errors. I use Schmetz needles. I push this machine beyond what is normal, to the point that I worry I am abusing my machine. I really do appreciate this video! I had a bit of confusion about a few things, but they were straightened out by your video. I am so happy with my machine, I know I need not look any further for something better; I just need to learn how to be a better sewist!

Great video! I am trying to figure out what the difference is between the narrow Acufeed foot you have and the HP2 foot. They both seem like extra narrow walking feet. Do they have a different purpose? Thanks!
@KatiesCraftStudio

@@bethmckenna8314 the HP2 foot only does 1/4" seams, the narrow accufeed works with the zigzag plate, so you can move the needle position

Katie thank you so much for a very informative video. Been researching machines as I need a new one. Been focused on Juki and possibly a Bernina, but then this one popped up. The 11” harp space is soooo attractive and love the flexibility you have with the acufeed and also the free motion foot. Going to a quilt show tomorrow and this is top of my list to test drive.

I saw the video was 50 minutes and said- no way am I watching it to the end! But I did!! Great info! I am researching a machine upgrade. I have a small travel sized Janome that replaced a Pfaff that died after 25 years- but it does not hold a candle to what my Pfaff could do, but I have to find a 6700 to try in a shop. I was thinking Skyline S7 but I think the harp space is bigger on the 6700 p and if I get a cutie frame in the future I will be happy to have the extra room. Great review. Great review, thank you Katie! I’m just getting started so good to know I should pick up the more narrow accufeed foot. Curious which cone thread you buy, I assume through Wawak? Your quilt in the background is amazing! Great job on your KZbin debut, looking forward to more! That mention on the bobbin case rings true for my old Janome QC I got 20 years ago and last year have an unresolved bobbin problem. I bought an o.k. Brother machine to use this past year and my sewing really took off so I got this machine, what a treat! I only want one back up machine so will revisit popping in a new bobbin for it. A tech did fix it temporarily and I watched him use a small piece of sanding paper on it. For thread I think I’d want a poly for bag making and garments and still use cotton for quilting?
@KatiesCraftStudio
@KatiesCraftStudio 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Heather, thanks so much! I personally use Isacord embroidery thread for bag making. I like it because it comes in a ton of colors and my local sewing shop sells them so it's easy to match what I want exactly. I buy the white and the black on the big cones, though, and I get those from sewingpartsonline.com which is also a great place to get needles, feet and other parts for your machine. :)

All my needles are Smetz, I haven’t had any problem with them. Have a look at your bobbin holder for damage on the hook, maybe buy a new one and try that. I keep a second bobbin holder that I have tested. I keep it aside unused in case I think the duty holder has been damaged or the bobbin tension is off.

Hi, Katie, have you had any issues with the bobbin case? (oops, asked before you go to that part, sorry!) I have a 6500 and many of those seem to have issues with that. It's clatters and jerks a lot, have ordered a new bobbin case for mine, but I am so interested in the 6700P after researching it and comparing to the 6650 I was originally looking to purchase. I have a Juki HZL G220 machine and much prefer Janome. I had the 7700 as well, but because I only piece and free motion quilt, I only used about 5% of the machine's potential, did not need such a beast of a machine. I did not have a bobbin case problem with the 7700, either. This 6700 is more compact and doesn't have so much that I will ever use. Have you ever used a ruler foot with this machine? Thanks for the extensive review! ~Cynthia

Hello Kathy. Me too, my name is Cathy and I am French and I would like to buy this machine because I mainly make objects (bags, kit, suitcase, toiletry bag, etc.) and my Brother A150 is not powerful enough . Do you have problems for a lot of thickness with faux leather + foam + fabric + iron-on? I love your quilt. I don't know if you did it but I would love to do the same. It is superb ! Can you give me the exact reference of the narrow accu feed foot for making bags and tell me if you really recommend this machine rather than the Janome Skyline S6 or S7. Thank you

Hi Cathy! I did have problems when things got really thick. I was able to make it through, but I had to slow down, use a thicker needle and occasionally a "hump jumper" to even out lumps so that the foot wasn't going up or downhill too badly. Between those techniques I was able to get great results!

I read that too, but went ahead and bought one a year ago. It has happened twice but only as a result of an unassociated crash like breaking a needle or tangle “down there”.
