This is genius! Thank you so much for all of your effort in this video. The play dough, the use of the heat gun with the low temp solder, all so smart and innovative!

Very good work and please can you make video on rhinstone stretchable bracelet
@Jansjewels4 жыл бұрын
I am sorry. I am not currently doing any videos. However, the easiest way to make a stretchable rhinestone bracelet is to string sew on settings and then set the stones.

Can you PLEASE do a video on how to plate the pieces to cover the discoloration to create a more cleaner look on the back of the pieces? Thank you!!
@Jansjewels5 жыл бұрын
The whole idea of using silver plated settings, 300 degree preflux solder wire and a heat gun is to avoid discoloration and the need for plating. To plate a piece you will need to send the piece to a professional plating company.

Jan's Jewelry Supplies I didn’t want to use solder wire with lead and only want to use a heat gun. You mentioned in another video in the comment section you could still have discoloration using an industrial heat gun. I know nothing about plating that’s why I was hoping you knew how and could do a tutorial on it but thanks anyway

Jan's Jewelry Supplies Is there any other option to removing the discoloration?

We do not do our own plating and do not have any expertise in the plating process. It is possible to use lead free solder with a torch and plated settings. However you will need to be very careful because it is easy to discolor the plating and you may not be able to polish it out without ruining the plating.

Plating is the best choice if the settings are discolored from the heat of soldering.

Hi Celine. Thank you for your question. The finished piece is no longer available. Here is a link to the video on our website and the material list to make the bangle bracelet: www.jansjewels.com/video-how-to-solder-rhinestone-chain-bangle-bracelet.html

Can you use the heat gun on 450 degree solder? I want to use a lead free solder wire but I want to use a heat gun to avoid discoloration
@Jansjewels5 жыл бұрын
Hi LA, The standard craft heat guns will not get hot enough. However, you can get an industrial heat gun that has a temperature control and it will get hot enough. Even without the flame you will get some slight discoloration due to the amount of heat. Another problem you will have with the bangle is if you use the cardboard to hold it in place it will catch on fire. I am working on another video for the same bangle using two different temperatures of solder and strips of aluminum (from disposable pans) to brace the piece. We are a little short staffed and have other priorities at the moment. So, it will be a while before I get to do another video but, you might want to use the aluminum if you are going to go with the higher heat source.

What is that new heating machine?
@Jansjewels6 жыл бұрын
Hi Vinit. We use a heat gun with 300 degree low temperature prefluxed solder when we are soldering silver plated settings. A torch would discolor the plated settings. You may view many videos using the heat gun on our channel. A good example is the Swim Wear Connectors at kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6vEfZSHh9ariMk The heat gun can be found at www.jansjewels.com/Multi-Purpose-Heat-Gun_p_37281.html
