January 16, 2023 - An Icy Day in Bar Harbor, ME

A quick drive through Bar Harbor, Maine on Monday afternoon January 16, 2023. It was a nasty day during an ice/sleet storm.

I long for maine all year. (I live in Rochester ny).Every year for 38yrs since I was a baby we go to Portland, take the ferry to peaks where my grandparents lived along with most my family...all of Maine is beautiful..I truly is like it's own country. I love these types of videos but then I miss it even more... great video

Thanks for taking us along today. We haven't had much for precipitation lately, but we did have several days of extreme cold. Good luck with the knee when the time comes, i know a couple people who have had it done and made out quite well.

Thanks Jeff. I am not looking forward to the knee operation, but it will be nice to be able to walk again. We haven't been below 20 yet this winter. It has been very warm here. t is supposed to be in the 40s for the next few days.

2 in one day, a bonus for a bar harbor lover, galyns is one of our fav places to dine, blueberry topping on fish was really good. you have given me a great view of the area in the snow, I always wanted to see it. and for your knee, do your physical therapy. I am a retired pharmacst from cape may and bethlehem pa. my second profession was photography in cape may. and I used to love to ride around in the snow and take photos in cape may in the winter.

I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. I too enjoy taking winter pictures and videos. I will definitely push the physical therapy. I expect the surgery to be in early March and want to be recovered in time for sailing season.

Looks like it would be a brutal day for a walk to Bar Island. Bar Harbor is quite pretty when snow covered, thanks for sharing with us!

Yes it would have been a wet walk to Bar Island today since the tide was almost high, not to mention the weather. There was less than 2" of sleet with just a little snow, so walking would not have been that bad. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Good luck on the knee- my wife had hers replaced last year and did well with the recovery- hope yours will go well. Roads look treacherous for sure.

Actually the road was OK. The truck didn't slip even once. Glad to hear your wife had a good recovery. I am still not looking forward to the event.

This is my hometown and although I have moved to central Maine I am fortunate to get to visit frequently. Just like when I was a kid the winters were soooo quiet but the summers have become crazy busy! Thanks for the video :)

You are very welcome. I hope you didn't get much of a mess from this storm. This storm was the first one this year where the snow looks like it will last more than a day. It has been a very warm winter here so far. Yes it is indeed quiet here in the winter and crazy in the summer. I heard on the radio yesterday that the park hit 4 million again in 2022, but was down a little from 2021. Still the second highest visitation ever. I have been here for 24 years and the change in tourism is nuts.

The new knee is doing fine. I spent yesterday sailing my boat out in the ocean south of Mount Desert Island with no issues.
