What I understand was that Hawaiian citizens overthrew the monarchy and established a Republic of Hawaii. Then that nation was annexed by the USA. So the guilty party was the Hawaiian rebels, but once the monarchy was overthrown, the law has no effect since the sovereignty of the kingdom was eliminated.

@@prst99 It was Caucasians who were born in the Hawaiian Kingdom (therefore had citizenship by birth) to American parents (so they had American citizenship by parentage), who considered themselves American and whose allegiance was to America. This handful of insurgents could easily have been taken out by the Hawaiian Kingdom (& would have been) but they had conspired with the US navy to illegally enter the Hawaiian Kingdom and aid in the illegal overthrow of The Hawaiian Kingdom. So no, it was Americans aided by the US navy. Aside from that, a monarchy is a government, overthrowing a government whether legally or in our case illegally, does not cause the country to cease to exist, a country and its government are two separate entities. A countries sovereignty, once recognized (which we achieved in 1843), cannot be revoked or unrecognized, it can ONLY be relinquished, via a treaty, which we have never done. So The Hawaiian Kingdom remains a sovereign country, albeit illegally OCCUPIED by the US. Example: when Iraq illegally overthrew the Kuwait government, the country of Kuwait still existed without a government. When the US said that’s illegal, Saddam Hussein pointed out that the US did the exact same thing in Hawai’i. International and customary international law. Edit: also to be noted, The Hawaiian Kingdom doesn’t allow for dual citizenship, so the fact that their American citizenship wasn’t relinquished would actually nullify their Hawaiian citizenship by birth anyways.

Way to blame the victims of crimes rather than the country that committed acts of wa* in violation of customary international law. 👏🏽 🙄 Ukraine isn’t a neutral country like The Hawaiian Kingdom is… you should probably learn international law and why our Queens actions actually ensured we STILL are a sovereign country in continuity, albeit illegally OCCUPIED by the US. It’s our Queens actions that guaranteed us our country can still be freed from the US, as there’s no statute of limitations on the wa* crimes committed against us.
