Welcome back. Is Kitty orchid eater still eating orchids? I should send you the Richard Mueller x labiata (4N) I bought. It is nice, but not really what I was looking for. Because it is 4N, the blooms are good size, moderately fragrant from the labiata parent, quite vigorous. I have to try to peel it away from the neighbors in the same tray, it has grown roots everywhere. I've also got a flask coming this coming week of a novelty Phal cross. My plan is to keep a couple and send off to others to bloom. The parents are Mituo Gelb Eagle (mostly yellow) x Mituo Love (mostly red with some yellow and purple). If there are 15 plants and if 15 live, would you be interested in one? I thought maybe I could send up three, one for you, one for Rey and one for Grismelda if all goes to plan.
@NicoleDeanna2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Michael! The orchid eater is getting better. She's eating mostly Oncidiums and thinner leaf kinds now 😂 The RM x Labiata sounds lovely. I'd be down for the phals as well. You know I'm a sucker for rm 😂😂😂 they are just so vigorous, I almost don't care I have all yellow blooms all over the place. Do you have Tetraspis C1? Mine started pushing out keikis, same as you, if they make it, I'll send to you. I hope you're well ❤️
@michaelmccarthy40772 жыл бұрын
@@NicoleDeanna the RMx labiata starts out fully purple and after about ten days fades to white with some purple spotting on the lip, so no worries about it being yellow.😆 Hopefully the Phals do well and I can share them. I'm interested in seeing what kind of variation comes out of the cross, if I can share them then I can see the blooms without having to bloom them all. I don't have tetraspis at all. I'm not really sure why I don't because I do like C1. I'd love a keiki if they make it.

Thank you so much! Seedlings are tough to start with, it's good to start with a mature orchid first, then once you have the hang of it you can give seedlings a go ❤️

My Bangkok sunset is in bloom right now. 1st bloom, no fragrance, and it's from Motes Orchids. I have troubles with the aerial roots. They get going, grow really good, then start to die.
@NicoleDeanna2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Bangkok sunset is beautiful. Vandas need a lot of humidity. They are difficult to grow for me in the winter. I hope you're able to find a way to grow it well!
@lindaannb2 жыл бұрын
Welcome back! You have been missed! I’m thinking about growing in semi hydro but with pumice instead of leca. Have you ever used pumice?
@NicoleDeanna2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Linda! I haven't used pumice on its own, but I've mixed a small amount of pumice with leca and lava rock and had good results. Pumice might retain a ton of moisture. I'd try it with one orchid and see how it goes for a few months in your environment and monitor the root health before transitioning several plants over to make sure it's ok.
@lindaannb2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That sounds like good advice. I like the idea of mixing it with leca and lava rock. I tend towards overwatering so that would probably work better than just pumice.

Hi Nicole new to your channel but I enjoyed your presentation so much your orchids are just breath-taking my question I recently purchased a grammatophyllum orchid (experiment) just to see if I could make it flourish have you tried this species if so what was the outcome if not do you think you would be interested in growing one...with mine so far so good....but....you just never know
@NicoleDeanna Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching :) I've never tried that kind of orchid, but there's a lot of folks I want to say that have on KZbin. It's a bigger one right? I try to stick with smaller types ❤️
@gloriayoung6219 Жыл бұрын
Yes its bigger and very vigorous drinks alot of water but od course dont like "wet feet"...
