You notice there isn't any commercials for medications on these old commercials up until 1998 it was illegal to have commercials for new medications

Except that they were indeed around since radio, except that they would be simpler and much more to the point. 15 or 30 seconds instead of one or two minutes. The days of Tylenol, Bayer, and Anacin have been replaced with all those fancy "ask your doctor" ads.
