Polar Vortex is a term weather officials invented to make it sound dramatic and scray.

Well it hasn't been in the last few years in my area of lower Lake Simcoe, winter is here with a vengeance, I prefer it to slush and rain, -10 is much easer to deal with IMO.

@@masonryjoeya well you can blame that on the weather modification programs just like this winter. You haven’t seen a day of natural weather in over 30+ years people

We don't even have any snow where we live in BC. I know that the mountains are getting lots of snow but down in the Columbia Valley we are getting rain and no snow.

I agree... shifting above and below freezing creates ice everywhere that's a hazard for drivers and pedestrians. Give me a steady -5 to -15 any time. The body acclimatizes and as long as you dress appropriately, those sunny winter days are glorious.

Global warming affects the climate patterns which causes changes with what we're familiar with - the weather.

Global warming doesn't just mean things get hotter only. Warming of temperatures globally affects the weather patterns, including countries that never have snow getting snow, etc. It's not that complicated.

Global warming is like a double-edged sword. On one side, we’ve got lower altitudes trapping heat, which isn’t great, making things warmer down here. But then, check this out: the upper altitudes are actually getting colder because that heat isn’t escaping into space. So when storms roll in, they mix that cold air with the warm air, helping to balance things out a bit. Then there’s the water temperature rising, which leads to more clouds. Those clouds are like nature’s sunglasses, reflecting sunlight and keeping things cooler. Plus, when it rains, that water helps soak up CO2, feeding plants and keeping the air cleaner. And don’t forget about the fresh water from the Arctic! When it flows into the ocean, it’s less dense than saltwater, making it harder for the ocean to soak up heat and that’s what can also lead to extreme cold spells in some areas that typically don’t get it that cold.
