So glad you’re enjoying Annihilation! I loved it. The 2nd book is a typical 2nd book but the series is good overall!

Master of Sorrows sounds so awesome! i love it when a character is between two ideologies and the premise of having to retrieve magic items sounds so interesting. i’m glad you enjoyed it, it’ll definitely be on my fantasy tbr.

I’m now halfway through the third Hades book. So so so good. I loved the concept. The romance comes in at the end of book 2, and the beginning of book 3 you get the full blown smut. But the smut takes a total backseat to the plot and with this story I really don’t care. The plot is so fun. She has another trilogy surrounding Ares and the first 2 books are out. I guess Hades and Persephone make cameos in that series.

I finished 1 book from December and read 1 book in January. But I had a slump at the beginning of January as sadly my Father in law passed away. So I have been reading when the urge grabs me, which isnt much right now. My favourite book of January was The Institute by Stephen King.... what an amazing book and first 5⭐ book of 2021. I'm hoping to read alot more in February but depends on my mood as have Father in laws Funeral on 15th February so will have to just take my moods as they come. I purched Masters of Sorrow and Starless Sea so excited to read them once they arrive. I'm new to Adult fantasy as had only ever read Terry Pratchett in my early teens. So thank you for opening me up to a new discovery of genre. X

I’ve read ACOWAR! I need to reread the books so I can read ACOSF later in the year! I’m currently reading Vinland Saga vol 1 for Polarthon, I’m 2 books down in that already (One Piece vol 4 and Inuyasha Vizbig 2) and my other ongoing read is Shadow Of Night by Deborah Harkness (13th reread), which I’m loving SOOOOOOO much!!!! You NEED to read the All Souls series by Deborah Harkness if you love adult romance. There is smut but sooooooooo much more too!

I agree sometimes you can just know too much about the mythology books are based off to enjoy them. I studied the Aeneid in depth at school and then just did not enjoy The Song of Achilles at all. I knew too much of what was going to happen & got school flashbacks aha

Surprising to hear you're not a big fan of poetry - aren't all those Greek myths and plays written in verse? Ah well, to each one's own. I'm a big fan of Shakespeare, and some people think WS is the best poet. Thx for the post, enjoyed.
@AFrolicThroughFiction4 жыл бұрын
This is why I generally don’t like saying I hate poetry - I like the odyssey and the Iliad, which are technically epic poems. Though to me they feel vastly different to poetry any more modern than that, so those are my exceptions aha. I haven’t read Shakespeare’s poems, just a lot of his plays
@jamesduggan72004 жыл бұрын
@@AFrolicThroughFiction Have you read Love's Labours Lost? Also, there's a great modern adaptation of it starring you-know-who, his girlfriend, Alicia Silverstone, and Nathan Lane.
@justincall23814 жыл бұрын
@@AFrolicThroughFiction I feel the same way about poetry. Epics are fine (as are plays), but modern poetry doesn't really entice me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
