Talking about "police record", what SK is saying is, in Europe and AmeriKKKa once you get arrested by the popo it goes on your record for life. If you have been sent to jail, you probably won't even have your full rights restored even after serving your jail term. For example, some ex-convicts can't vote. If you are looking for a job, they might do a background check on you and if the check shows you've been arrested and jailed, otilo! If you get pulled over on the road by the police, they would ask for your license and run checks on it, trust me as a black person, 9 out of 10 times, the way the police would conduct himself and treat you might depend on your criminal record. Basically, your record goes with you for life. And even if you ever get pardonned in AmeriKKKa for your criminal history, the record, when checked would show "record expurnged", which still indirectly implies that you've been arrested before and would kind of make people wonder why lol....again, otilo! Sometimes, if you want to rent a house in a nice or fairly okay neighbourhood, the landlords would ask for your social security number and run background checks on you. That actually happens a lot. If you have a criminal past, otilo! So, as an ex-con, you might be left with fewer options for the rest of your life. And this, ladies and gentlemen is why there's a high rate of recidivism in the African American community. You can google that word "recidivism" lol. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

How many people in Nigeria have time to raise their kids? People are equally working their butts off to make ends meet that they don’t have time to ALSO raise their kids in Nigeria because the economy isn’t great. There are good points raised here but let’s not get it twisted; most people japa to have better chances than what is available in Nigeria period! It’s not in anyway perfect in Europe but you’d realise that most people just want to see better result for the same hardwork they put back in Nigeria (in the uk, you can even survive on minimum wage - in Nigeria it’s impossible) and most people just want to be in a place where the government (while not perfect) is atleast better and actually cares for the wellbeing of citizens. I’ve seen British people complain so much about their government but I really laugh and tell them that they don’t know just how good they have it. Most people won’t leave Nigeria if they had these basic things

@@Chuwalkerexactly....I have a residence permit in Sweden and currently living there and you are absolutely correct when you said their system is rigged against black man.... even if you have their citizenship, you will always be a third class citizen and a slave. Because the citizens come first, other races with the same skin colour comes second and black people(especially Africans) comes third. And don't even get me started on the extreme hate against people of colour which is us. If I knew Europe is a horrible place, I wouldn't have agreed to come here with my father. Many people (Nigerians) residing in Europe or U.S.A will never accept this truth because they love the respect and attention their families in Nigeria receive. Most of them work two to three jobs just to meet up and sometimes they borrow loans that takes up to 10, 20 or even 30 years to repay just to build those houses you see. I'm a witness to this. My advice to those who saved money to travel by hook or by crook... please use that huge sum you were able to make and start a lucrative business in Nigeria...trust me your life is better that way. My father and some other Nigerians are telling me to manage the bullshit I'm seeing here but I can't. I plan on coming back soon. 27:59 this was a major gem that escapes many of us today concerning African immigrants in the West. In the coming decades, they'll likely be the parents of the downtrodden that are frowned upon as is the case today. It's cyclical and the question is 'WHY'?
@triggabun

The ones in Africa are not doing any better. Malema did a speech on Ghana and it was so sad to learn that Ghana was the first country to gain independence and its essentially a village. All major production and mineral interests are owned by outsiders. If that is not down troden then what is? People still dying of very treatable conditions. Africans risking their lives on banana boats or airplane landing gear to find something better. Africans willingly taking themselves to the Arabs for modern day enslavement where they work 24/7 with no days off for 200 pounds a month and that is preferable than staying home and dying of poverty. Please...... Nigeria we can't even talk about. The real situation on the ground and you are talking about down troden in the West. We are stressed but I can go to the ER for free. If I have a problem at work I have rights. The HRC actually does it's job if the government fails to do so. Nobody can work you 24/7 it's unheard of and would lead to criminal charges here. Yes despite slavery. Africans treat each other worse than any white person can do in this day and age. Police killings are not even spoken of any more in Africa. Politicians disappear or are found killed somewhere and nothing comes of it. What of the common man? Who is doing this? Westerners? It really grinds my gears when Africans talk of Africa as some sort of eutopia. We can't even have enough self discipline to stop corruption and who can blame civil servants when we vote in billion dollar thieves.... Please.... don't get me ranting here. What else is there? Not be liked by others? Aren't the Igbos in an uproar about their houses being demolished and moving East? What of tribalism? Didn't Rwanda go through a genocide, and actual genocide and are holding onto peace via dictatorship because Africans don't know and don't respect democracy? What about Central Africa? What about your own Boko Haram? What westerners are perpetrating this? Name calling is downtrodden? Being called a nigga is downtrodden? We who live on last surnames and who your relatives are to get ahead in life? Here as a nigga you can still work with integrity. You may not be the boss but you can work and live. In Africa if you are a woman be prepared to open your legs. If a man you better be the smarter crook or have the correct last name. There is absolutely no comparison. None.

@@triggabun I must confess that I've deliberated over responding to you, given my experience with emotional arguments and their circular conclusions, not to mention the psychological tax they incur, with marginal benefit. Nonetheless, it's important to offer a counter to toxic rhetoric, for the sake of the less informed, even if it's lost on you. It seems that you're hung up on the the term "downtrodden". That's the unfortunate reality of the Negro people wherever we find ourselves. Farbeit from me why anyone would deny observable reality. Africa a utopia? You're just punching air with this one - who even insinuated this? (although it certainly has the potential to becoming one in every conceivable metric) The vast majority of Africas' sociopolitical defects stem from the lack of leadership from those in the upper echelons of leadership positions. It's riddled with the canker rot that only serves themselves and their Caucasian puppeteers. Alas, a new dawn is breaking where multitudes of my people are awakening to the stench and are strategizing a way out of the muck. Case in point: the ousting of French influence from former francophone colonies in western Africa. That alone is a beacon that'll be homed in on. I'm optimistic. In any case, I'd much rather struggle in a land where I don't run the risk of becoming a stinking statistic, at the hands of whimsical law enforcement: one in a myriad of somber realities in your own backyard, with no signs of abatement. I've lost count of first and second-hand tales of those (many of whom I know personally) who were lured by the promise of easier living in the America's and Europe, only find themselves on the same economic hamster wheel that so many Westerners, yourselves lament about. They slave away from home for decades, with little to show for it. I use their testimonies as cautionary tales for the ignorant ones here with rose colored glasses about the West. The grass is truly greener where we water it, which is Seuns' entire premise in this video: for us (continental Africans) to prioritize our own grass; to clean our house in order that we bury talking points, like yours, in the graveyard of history. The fact of the matter is that the West is simply over sold and it under-delivers. It's on borrowed time and the minutes are waning. The future is Africa!

Everyone is saying respect Seun but he has no solution to all the problems mentioned. Beside a Nigerian suffers as of today more in Nigeria than those in diaspora. Imagine a teacher works a whole month and an illiterate in power doesn't pay him and the teacher will be threaten. Seun made points but he should say the solution. Nigerians should have been tired of list of problems with no solution.

Problems are seldom solved by the people who noticed them. That's where creating awareness comes in, for more people to work on solving the problem. Eventually one person would figure it out, but not if they never even know about the problem.
