Join me on a journey to discover the captivating Shimane Prefecture in Japan! This is part one of a two-part series, where we explore the charming city of Matsue.
In this episode, I really enjoyed the serene beauty of the Adachi Museum of Art, considered one of the most beautiful gardens in the world.
Matsue Castle was also another unique sight as it is a symbol of the region's rich history & one of the 12 castles in Japan that retained its original structure.
I was also deeply fascinated by the legacy of Lafcadio Hearn, a writer who brought Japanese culture to the West. He came here as an English teacher in the 1800s. the first thing that I was curious about was how could they learn the language then when there's not much resources as we have today.
I also witnessed the breathtaking sunset over Lake Shinji, a sight that will leave a mark.
Yuushien Garden is also another highglight with their Japanese garden and peonies collection--for a moment of reflection. I also hopped on a sightseeing boat ride, soaking in the stunning scenery of Matsue from a unique perspective.
