You left out the "Made in Occupied Japan" backstamp! I also find all my Willow at thrift stores, and I found a complete set of Occupied Japan Willow for less than $50 a few years ago. I actually like the intense blue of Japanese Willow ware over some English types, that can appear more grey than blue. I collect it all-English, Japanese, American. I've been using a Japanese Willow coffee cup for almost 50 years now-My Grandfather gave it to me in 1974, and I've used it almost every day since. It's heavily crazed now, but I still treasure it.

My mom gave me 5 heavy duty divided blue willow plates that were her grandmas. We used to have more, but there are only 5 left. We used to use them only on the holidays. I’m 64 now and are wondering if you are aware of them and their value. The stamp says Mopiyama above a basket of flowers and made in Japan below it. Lots of crazing on them.

Awesome plates,there used to be so many 10 yrs ago,but now you have a collectable, they are from Japan before the war,1930-1945,if it has alot of crazing then its at least before 1950,thx 4 watching

I found stone plates with engraved Japan in the clay very heavy how old do you think they are?
@thewillowguy4439 Жыл бұрын
Japan started using Japan stamp from 1927 to 1945,your piece being engraved was probably done by a private artist, if the words in Japan are straight and blocked then it was a mainstream pottery company, but the fact that it is stamped Japan, makes it closer to 1927,I'll be doing another video about the age of Japan stamps,thx 4 watching

l was hoping you might have information on the Japanese 'Nippon' brand, lt would be 100 + years old by now. 🙂
@thewillowguy443911 ай бұрын
Nippon back stamp is the official backstamp in Japan, it started in the 1900,it ran for 21 years but then England wanted things to be marked by their country of origin, so then you used "JAPAN ", or made in Japan, the stamps that are realy small(made in Japan)are older,also be sure to make sure the stamp is a stamp or transfer, newer ones from the 60s are a silk screen backstamp,it should be a ink stamp,be careful with isopropyl alcohol it will rub the stamp off,I believe all NIPPON is collectable,very hard to figure what companies made them,but it was only in the 45s that individual companies transfer stamp their name,thx 4 watching, good luck collecting 😉

I have a heavy child's plate, with 3 sections and is stamped made in occupied Japan. I've been told it's not worth anything, but I think otherwise. Am I right?
@thewillowguy4439 Жыл бұрын
If it is a child's plate,? Tea set child's plate ,or doll set plate,I have only seen the 3 section plates as big plates,when I stated collecting willow people said the 3 section plates was not worth anything but now they are not around, never pay more then 10 dollars for any plate or saucer ,I think your plate is worth at least 15 to 20,,if it is from a child tea set it's worth,20 +,,thx 4 watching

@thewillowguy4439 Жыл бұрын
Ya I think this was a good deal,,I saucer and cup is worth about 10 to 15 in open market,like ebay,occupied Japan is great cause it is dated,,thats 73 yrs old or so,you can double your money,,my rule is I only pay 5 to 10 for any piece, but 5 for saucer and cup,,thx 4 watching my video,

Not much value. For collection, looking for hand painted items, not prints made by machine in large quantities without any variation.
@thewillowguy4439 Жыл бұрын
Nope not much value in Japan stamp willow, but I have pieces worth up to 2000 dollars, the oldest of willow was hand made,no machine, of course it was the Japanese that invented machine transfers,,but even the machine transfer process uses hand painted elements like polychrome,goudy,muti color ,thx 4 watching and ur wonderful comment

Sorry, usability is where I draw the line. If I can't USE it, it's worthless to me. A paper sticker -- or whatever -- glued on to the back will have anyone else except me as its owner. I demand that the things I own SERVE ME, not the other way around. Thanks for all your work here; well done, truly.
