I have a few blue and white display plates bowls etc I can not find any good information on them. I found that the research is confusing, so I gave up. I know their not worth a lot, but it still would be interesting this video very helpful if I ever came across a piece

We still regularly come across pieces that completely stump us, but its nice to have a process to follow for identification, and the modern AI graphics tools are increasingly rewarding to use. Happy collecting!

Thank you very much for this. It's very helpful. Do you have any advice for someone just starting to dabble in antiques (especially dinnerware etc)? The amount of knowledge needed is pretty overwhelming

Yes, absolutely, pick a pattern or maker you like and start to collect focus on on this while you expand your knowledge base. If you love the search element of collecting, if you don't make too hard a first choice, then pieces can still be found at garage and car boot sales, charity shops etc, buying from dealers or online is expensive as they have filtered all the damaged pieces and done all the leg work and research. I started collecting Furnival Quail over 30 years ago and still love it. Have fun and good luck. Mike

Hello I have a blue willow platter with S.B&S it’s got a Phoenix bird on a crown - Do you know anything about that one? Apparently I read that Samuel barker & sons can also be confused with Sampson Bridgewater & sons
@vintage-farmhouse-antiques5 ай бұрын
This is very true it’s easy to get the two confused as they were manufacturing similar items at around the same time . We do offer a china identification and valuation service if you need any help identifying it vintage-and-antiques.co.uk/products/china-valuation-service

P. S I’ve also made several videos guiding you through process of how to identify your china and value it you may find them helpful . More info here vintage-and-antiques.co.uk/pages/identify-my-china-pattern And. vintage-and-antiques.co.uk/pages/how-do-i-value-my-china

Ps I think it’s more likely to be Samuel Barker and Son if there is a phoenix on it

what about stamps that are imprints?

pressed marks can be helpful, some are dates, most are brand or factory identifiers. Many more are un-interpretable, their significance lost in time.

As the title mentioned value.. It would have been nice to hear your informed perceived values....

Good point, in addition to the link to the blue and white platter collection I have now added individual links to the platter listings in the description section on youtube.
