@Tu_Padre31

@John Lee Mexicos president had near daily talk segments talking about the team during press conferences. He put out a video congratulationing the team and their performance as soon as the game was over as well. Mexicos social media's affiliated with baseball and MLB grew by a ridiculous amount of followers, their players socials as well. Mexico already has a few states where baseball is bigger than soccer, but this definitely gave it more national growth, many people putting it ahead of soccer world cup performances, as well as the sport of soccer in general. The State of Sonora, Mx is known as the home of baseball in mexico, their local teams are well supported, and if you look up where alot of these MX players are from, you wouldnt be surprised its almost entirely Baja Cali, Sonora, and Sinaloa. Surprisingly, a staggering amount of the mexico fans attending their games were from mexico, and not just mexican americans as most people would expect. Overall, ALOT of new baseball fans over there

@Jose C Seriously?!?! more than the national soccer team?!?! That's insane, I almost don't believe you... Wbc is VERY slowly starting to grow in the US as a worthy tournament, but I didn't expect it to blow up in Mexico before it did in the US like that, That's crazy. I wish americans/our players cared about it like everyone else seems to... alot of americans still don't know this tournament even exists, which is stupid because mlb made the whole event lol. And although trout, ohtani, turner, and jomboy is finally making it bigger, sadly alot of US players still don't care to play

@@johnlee7377 Every game is a big deal in Mexico. Baseball is huge in Mexico. Like Football to Texas. Baseball is the same to Mexico, Yes even over futball/Soccer. WBC is Slowly growing in the US? It was literally proposed by US players and officials... Not sure you know what you're talking about. It is literally one of the WORLDS most viewed baseball events... Murakami definitely have a lot of chip in his shoulder, coming for this tournament. He is back to back CL MVP (2021 & 2022) , winning triple crown in 2022 by posting .318 AVG .458 OBP .710 SLG and 56 HR. And he just 22. Thats why he batting fourth in group stage. And he just didnt produce. And the fans and the pundit kinda harsh to him in the media. Even a lot of fans in here kinda piss with him in this game. This match is an instant classic, both teams represented the styles of their baseball to the fullest - Latino baseball: crazy firepower, great extension and speed on defense, flashy fielding; Japanese baseball: using of forkball, sacrificing (bunt) for the team, resilience. Despite speaking a different language on field, the affection is universal. Thank you Japan and Mexico for playing perhaps the best game I’ve ever seen in my life.

I completely agree. The atmosphere at this entire tournament and the passion that these teams have shown has been off the hook. I've watched every single game. I will be sad when I'm watching spring training in a couple days.

@@geraldserra "Meaningless" games that get 7 million more views than what the World Series and MLB will ever get. There is a reason why baseball is dying out in the United States. Noone cares about MLB and the reason why basketball and football are leagues ahead. Even soccer is going to beat it in the future.

@@geraldserra Not anymore bro! More and more people are losing interest in MLB, and very few people could give a crap about spring training. Just because you think "this are meanless games" doesn't mean that the players in the WBC think they are meaningless. Watch the interviews. Nearly every player on every team has said this is the most fun they've ever had playing baseball. This isn't 2006. This tournament means everything to these players in 2023!

This tournament is amazing, there’s nothing quite like it in the baseball world. Obviously it’ll never be like the FIFA World Cup (nothing ever will) but it’s clearly one of the best international competitions out there and its got sooo much potential to grow the game of baseball in ways a domestic league like the MLB could never

@@ArizonaSonora1 I would say it's very much the present of baseball already. I think in 20 years even the northern cities in the US will be battling to host games and the final. Coming from a soccer nation, I say there is the need for a final to be at Yankee Stadium someday. Dodger Stadium already hosted the final twice iirc. Despite them taking down the original stadium (which is a crime), it is the most symbolic place of baseball, it's the equivalent of a World Cup Final in the Maracanã in Rio.

"That guy" that scored the winning run was an infielder/utility player from the Softbank Hawks, Shuto. He's my favorite Japanese player and I had absolutely no idea that he made the WBC team for Japan. I thought Japan had lost, gave up and went to bed only to find out I should have stayed up. What a finish. The Japan / USA game should be a good one.
