We just had a M7.3 earthquake here in Japan I was able to catch my tree (earthquake tree) moving during the shake. This was more intense then the m7.1 we had last year in 2021.

my husband grew up in L.A. an experienced several earthquakes of that magnitude. We had one (at 5) early one morning in Victoria BC back in 1975 and it was the first one I ever experienced. So when I finally realized what was going on I sat up in bed and yelled "It's an earthquake! it's an earthquake!" to which my husband said "it's ONLY an earthquake, go back to sleep." ha ha ha

Yea when you experience them often you don't really react to them anymore I had one happen when I was waking up and said ok I get it I will get out of bed lol
@whoever6458

I felt those ones in the 80s and 90s in LA. I got under the bed for them but I was a kid then. I almost didn't feel the 6.4 one that we had on the 4th of July several years ago. I was still in bed but I had a powerful fan already shaking my bed some because it was hot and I only realized there was an earthquake when I noticed that something was shaking my bed from a slightly different direction than my fan so I got up and had to even ask everyone if it had been an earthquake. I was so sad that I had basically missed it when we hadn't had a good one in so many years but then there was the bigger 7.1 one the next day so I was actually honestly happy about that because I did feel that one.

@@RONONTHEGO - Now it's nearly double!~ I guess earthquakes make news headlines. Living in CA most of my life, I've been in many myself. Northridge in '94 was by far the largest one I've experienced. I too had a plant at that time that would wriggle every time there was an aftershock. This is before the internet, so the average Joe didn't have access to USGS or any other site like that. I started noting the aftershocks on an 8x10" piece of paper, with 3 or 4 rows. In less than 8 hours, I had filled the page. This made me nauseous, so I stopped doing that. Just fyi, how I found your video... I did a search on YT "Japan Earthquake" and your video was on the top of the list!

There were lots of earthquakes here in Southern California back in the 80s and 90s to the point that I had just assumed that earthquakes happen about once a year. Then I was kind of bummed to not have felt a good one for years before the 4th of July series of them that we had a few years back but it's gone back to be being boring here again, which sucks. The biggest earthquake I was ever in was a 7.3 and it did scare the shit out of me. That's plenty big but I was also like 12.

I couldn't stay standing and i flew into my closet to keep safe. My entire apartment got trashed and i had to sleep at the culture center which became an evac site.
