I believe Italy is doing something similar with very low-cost homes, and reduced requirements for non-Italians to migrate there. You did a great job summarizing many of the economic pressures behind the problem in Japan. We live in interesting times.

I think I saw something similar for Scotland too! It's interesting to see the strategies how countries are trying to encourage migration to more rural areas! I wonder if these initiatives are going well so far -Frankie
