I love the X-2 being showcased, I remeber using it on Ace combat Infinity and loved that it's basically a miniature F22.... the kind of advance that you should have to miniaturize an existing plane is kind of a flex, but that just majes the F-X even more interesting

Dużo czytałem o Japońskim F-2. To na prawdę jest F16 na sterydach. Nie wiem jak wypada w porównaniu z najnowszymi generacjami F16V, ale w momencie powstawania F-2 wyprzedzał mocno swoje odpowiedniki z USA. Większy, mniej widoczny, radar AESA na pokładzie... odbiło się to jednak w kosztach. Maszyna jest świetna, ale kosztuje 2x tyle co F16D... podejrzewam iż obecny F16V to taka Amerykańska wersja F-2. Mimo to F-2 był ciekawym samolotem, będąc przejściem pomiędzy generacją 4 samolotów F15/F16/F18 a ich następcami F22/F35. Chociaż USA opracowała wcześniej F22 ich gwiazda śmierci nie sprawdziła się w praktyce, będąc wspaniałą bronią o eksorbitalnym koszcie. F-2 choć też kosztowny był bezpieczniejszym rozwiązaniem na rok 2000. Możliwe iż USA spodziewało się iż F-2 upadnie w obliczu sukcesu F22, sukcesu który nigdy nie nadszedł, a przez to chętniej przekazała Japonii technologię F16 oraz inne rozwijane rozwiązania. Japonia tak na prawdę dobrze wykorzystała nadarzającą się okazję, miała wtedy pieniądze, zainwestowała je w rozwój własnego przemysłu, a dzięki temu obecnie to ona prowadzi rozwój kolejnej generacji myśliwca.
