Simple and elegant. Modern but traditional. And perfect nature. The Japanese style is gorgeous. One of the top 3 hotels on the canal. Thank you for introducing this. I hope to visit one day

Such a beautiful video it was fascinating to watch. Imagine the Imperial Family as a guest. A real honor. During winter after a fresh snow fall it must be a captivating site of the countryside. Thank you enjoyed very much.

This hotel is especially great in winter! Okura Kihachiro, who was born in Niigata Prefecture, founded a business conglomerate known as the Okura Zaibatsu after the Meiji Restoration. Famous names among its businesses include the Imperial Hotel, Taisei Corporation, and Sapporo Beer. His son, Okura Kishiro, expanded the hotel business by founding Hotel Okura in Tokyo. He was known for his many hobbies, including motorsports, skiing, and golf, and built resorts in various locations, including the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium in Sapporo, Akakura Ski Resort and the hotel in Niigata Prefecture, and Kawana Golf Course on the Izu Peninsula. Since then, Akakura has been one of Japan's leading ski resorts for nearly 90 years. However, I did not know that the Akakura Kanko Hotel, which boasts the tradition had changed management. Thanks.

Thank you for another great video. The onsen looks very luxurious, the food looks really good, the open-air bath seems wonderful and the views are fantastic. For me however, the service seems to be "too stiff" (so that I wouldnt feel comfortable). And the decoration of the room, and also of some public spaces, are too classical/elegant for me. I prefer it rather traditionally Japanese with tatami mats etc., or modern. This "grandmother style" is not so much what I like. But luckily tastes are different 🙂

Great video, great location! Sorry to spoil your dinner experience but the service personnel messed up the cutlery big time. The initial arrangement was already off, the smaller fork needs to be placed higher that the main fork - yes, there are quite strict rules. The knife that came with the butter (not the one at the plate) was a fish knife, not a butter knife (btw: there was no need for an extra knife because you had butter knives). The spoon you had with the soup was for gravy. Once you chose the fish as your main dish, the service personnel should have exchanged your knife for a fish knife. The same for your husband: he should have gotten a steak knife. The spoon you had with your dessert was for soup (a dessert spoon has a smaller head). As you had a crispy dessert you should have gotten a small fork in addition. It hurts to see such a great cuisine spoiled by such a bad service. But I hope you enjoyed your french cuisine experience nevertheless.
