If one has played Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes & Metal Gear Solid V, you may find the iDroid's voice rather familiar because it was voiced by none other than Donna Burke herself! Believe she also voiced a number of other video games too.

Pro tip when using the Shinkansen. When you hear her voice. It’s time to grab your backs and head for the door. The Shinkansen only stop briefly at many stations. Her next stop announcement comes after the Japanese announcement. 🚅

At last, you answered my question. I always wondered and my best guess was that JR had an edge in AI synth voice technology, just like they did with track stability and calibration of the wheels. Silly me, but I found it a miracle that the lady talking to the travellers was so calm and re-assuring.

Donna, you're making another Aussie しんにちか born in '64 (Sydney) proud 🚅 (...although I have to say the ones that really give me goosebumps are the Japanese announcers, like the one on Arovane's "Passage to Nagoya".)
@theharper1Ай бұрын
I'm also an Australian born in Sydney in 1964. Now I know why I found the English announcements on the Tokaido shinkansen the most pleasant to listen to, as opposed to the American accents used elsewhere. 🙂 She has quite a neutral accent and enunciates beautifully. It could be mistaken for an English accent except for the "a" sounds and a few other quirks which are clearly Australian.
