We visited Sapporo last month for the holidays and we were blown away by the winter illuminations! ✨ You're inspiring us to come back next month for the Snow Festival! ❄ It's going to be our first Snow Festival if we ever go~ So exciting to see a lot more snow!! My wife and I were there on the 1st and the snow came down hard as we were coming out of the far, west end of Tanukikoji arcade. So magical!

I’m a Florida guy and snow isn’t really my thing but this looks so majestic. I think my next trip to Japan will be a winter trip and I’ll definitely consider Sapporo or another area that gets snow.

Can you understand why there are so few people walking on the ground in Hokkaido and so many people underground? Only locals walk underground, as the ground is cold and slippery with snow.

They do plow the snow but it snows more than that. But they take it as advantage and they host a Snow Festival every year and it's been really successful and famous. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYC1oJZ3fKmlea8 It's hard to answer your second question. If it's your first visit to Japan, I would definitely recommend Tokyo. But personally I love Taketomi Island. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZSng3yGmK6MhKc However, unfortunately May is their rainy season so I can't recommend it. But May is the most comfortable season to visit mainland Japan, so everywhere should be very beautiful! 😄

Yes, that was 2 years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/amKalmZortBseJI Many public transportation was cancelled and I was almost unable to go back to Tokyo. The similar thing happened this time too but it was only for a short period. 😄
