Thank you so much for volunteering at the Tokyo Olympics. I know some volunteers in Japan had quit due to concerns with Covid. But thanks to all volunteers who persevered, Tokyo pushed through and hosted the Olympics. I'm really enjoying myself watching the athletes compete and bring glory to their countries. There 's a lot of good sportsmanship shown among different countries' athletes, reminding us we are One Big Family! I think Japan has done a fantastic job hosting the Olympics. Sending my love and well wishes from California to Tokyo!

How do you volunteer? And at what age can you do it, as I’m currently only 13. I do wish to volunteer one day
@Zodia195 Жыл бұрын
@@kazezeze I know you asked this question a year ago, but I think to volunteer at an Olympics, you at least have to be 18. So you might be old enough to volunteer for LA in 2028, if not for sure by Brisbane in 2032. When you are old enough, you can just go to the official websites of Olympic events. However, normally you can't sign up to volunteer until the sites say so. Like for Paris 2024, they opened up applications from March to May of this year. After Paris, the next Olympics is the Winter one in Italy (2026), and they'll probably open up applications sometime either in late 2024 or early 2025. I hope one day you are able to volunteer. While I haven't volunteered at a major sporting event like the Olympics, I love volunteering in general (have been since I was 16) and it's very rewarding and you learn a lot.

Hi, I volunteered in Buenos Aires 2018. The Games organisation team upload a form online so anyone can fill it up. The selection is pretty harsh because thousands of people try for it, but my advice is to apply anyway! The next Summer Olympic Games are Paris 2024 and the applications start early 2023 on the organisation page, so if you are interested you should look up there.. I don’t know if the applications for the next Winter Games and Youth Games are still open, but try to look for information and see if you can apply there!

Great video as usual - here’s the comparison to mine at the London games 1) surprised to see that it isn’t Adidas like in the last few games 2) we only had 2 shirts, suppose London was nowhere as humid as Tokyo 3) we had a baseball cap, either it is a Olympic or Paralympic logo 4) water bottle had a Coke bottle shape with its logo 6) we had a Oyster card (edit to correct as not been to London for years) which gets me around London 24/7 - I even used it when not volunteering to do my tourist thing and could get away with it 7) very surprised that you never got a watch or an umbrella

Hello I was also a volunteer I can answer some points: 1) Each host country has their own sponsors. ASCIS is a Japanese company and was chosen as a sponsor for Olympic and Japan team uniforms. In 2016 Olympics the Sponsor was 361 and they made the shirts/pants/hats/shoes for the Rio Volunteers. For the 2000s I guess Adidas had some arraingment as they did 2008 Bejing and 2012 London . In 1996 it was Reebock. 3) Instead of a baseball cap the decision was chosen to use a full brimmed hat in Tokyo due to the sun and heat 7) A watch was given as a prize during the volunteering event itself, I think this was a better choice to give it to actual volunteers, as it turned out some volunteers ended up selling some of their uniform stuff (before the games) and never turned up for volunteer shifts (same happened during Rio). I won a watch myself, it is a SWATCH which gives watches for volunteers in many past Olympics. Extra point: The 2020 Olympics was the first time that both the Olympic and Paralympic logos were used on a uniform. In past Olympics/Paralympics you had to change to a different shirt with the Olympic/Paralymic logo, or cover up the Olympic Logo with the Paralympic logo if you were a volunteer for both.
