Knew next to none of the artists you showed, which is great (honestly). Saw Laraaji live earlier this year, but funnily enough don’t own any of his albums. That box is something else wow. Bird sounds!

I love that US3 record! I have it on CD. I believe you're the first person I've seen show it.

That’s the reissue from 2022 on Music On Vinyl. I also bought it on cd back in the day. Do you know the band Broadcast, which I showed? They are very often compared to Stereolab, without being copycats. Check out their studio albums Haha Sound and Tender Buttons. Good stuff!

OMG Frederik. I have literally been cataloging records all day long. It's 2:39 am and I should have gone to sleep hours ago, but I really wanted to basically get through cataloging all the records I could this weekend so as to have them handy to listen to them all next week. I set my sights and getting through your video today (along with 5 others) which includes listening to their Japan Vinyl Tag Video (likely for a 2nd time) and then pausing after every selections, going to find the track of full album on KZbin that the person has put forth for the category, maybe find out what the years is or something other detail while I listen to the first 1 song or so, logging it into a spreadsheet to work from as well as a doc that will help me promote it later, and then going back back the the VC members video, pressing play again and repeat. I did this 100 times today and the listening I have ahead of me is daunting but more than daunting, far more, it's exciting to think of all I have to discover and learn and forge some sorta bond with people by way intentionally taking in the music the love. I suspect people thing I'm always a bit over-the-top or something but for me, I'm just getting off so hard on music. I mention all this because a list like your is not one I am going to get from any magazine, from any radio station, from any podcast. It really couldn't be more highly curated if one tried and if you are a music lover like I know you and me are (though my tastes are FAR less sophisticated than yours) this is EXACTLY what we live for. This list is AH-MAY-ZING! I can not WAIT to sink my claws into this thing. So much supremely cool choice, MAN! Between you and me, you may have just won the entire tag, and I haven't even listened to the records yet. But jeez, the aficionado in somebody has never been more pronounced. You're a proper musicologist and Im just beside myself with thanks that you chose to put so much careful thought and consideration into this. Thank you Frederik. So glad to be more connected now, and to forge an every stronger bond in the coming months and years. Of course I will circle back with more to say once I listen to all, and I hope it goes without saying, but if you get back to Japan anytime soon, know you have a friend here eager to meet! Will report back here soon. Thanks again, pal. Best from Tokyo - Brian

Thanks for the kind words, Brian! I hope you enjoy the music. I might actually do an additional one for some categories with strictly Japanese records, which I thought of after I shot the video and thought: “damn, why didn’t I think of that earlier??!!” 😂 Yes, you found a nerd friend in Belgium haha

That’s what I enjoy about these tags/challenges: dive deep into the collection and talk about music that others may not know. Glad you enjoyed! 👍🏻
