this vlog literally showed the worst day of my solo travel and the best day as well. I think the bottled up anxiety just exploded on me that day so that was not fun. currently I am taking some japanese classes before I go back to japan again.
anyways I seriously LOVED kamakura. it was so peaceful. thank you guys for recommending it to me on my instagram ilyyyy. and it was so nice hanging out with nice people as well! I hope you guys enjoyed this vlog and I'll see you guys soon with a kyoto vlog as well! bye byeeeeee

Crying in public can be embarrassing but the way I see it if you’re traveling you’re probably never gonna see those people again, so cry all you want! Let it out T^T I know you’ll come out of this even stronger, that’s the icky part of traveling especially when ur alone!! I am thankful you share this though as it is honest and a portrayal of solo traveling as a woman~ take care!!!🩷

You definitely were not being dramatic, anxiety and overstimulation especially in a environment you're not familiar with and feel very isolated in, is so normal and valid. I 100% get how you feel since going to Seoul back in August, I had intense anxiety about being a foreigner who doesn't speak Korean. Thank you for being so real about the anxiety you went through traveling alone in a foreign country, I'm a very new subscriber but I'm definitely proud of you for going out of your comfort zone on this trip. I'm planning a trip to Japan in August of this year so I've been watching so many Japan vlogs and yours happened to get recommended to me, you have such a fun and real personality and I've been loving binging your vlogs. You're doing great!!!

I totally feel you, I had a similar breakdown when I was travelling in Paris. Big noisy city with lots of people, the feeling of being judged by locals, walking all day and not eating for a while, it's hard to handle. It's nice finally to see someone showing the more difficult aspects of traveling as well! Stay strong

I feel like japanese people tell foreigners “you’re japanese is good” regardless how good their japanese actually are as more of an appreciation for them trying to speak in japanese instead of just going to their country and expecting everyone to speak english, so they appreciate you via don’t worry learning a new language is difficult for anyone!!

I'm Japanese and I'm so glad you took the trip to Japan! I was one of the ones who recommended going to Kamakura and I'm really happy you liked it🤍! Also, thank you for not hating Japan despite the bad and lonely feelings😭 I've cried too when the waiter asked me back when my English was much poorer! It's ok! I mean, I've cried many times because I just can't speak English LOL! I'm sure there will be many good things when Via come to Japan next time and I'm looking forward to hearing Via's improved Japanese on Vlogs hehe🫶 I hope you will visit not only the city but also the countryside because it is beautiful and has a lot of nature and not packed! lol And hot springs are one of my favorite culture in Japan. I'm sure that once you go to a hot spring, you'll be definitely hooked! Sending lots of luv💝

Dont feel embarrassed, it’s okay to have these feelings and overstimulation is very real and brutal at times. You’re amazing and so real! You are trying a language instead of just being ignorant you have a sweet soul and they should be able to see it with or without a language barrier.

I normally don't comment, but this vlog just reminded me of myself and one of my solo trips. I once broke down in public while solo travelling as I had struggled to communicate with staff/people. I felt embarrassed, but more so defeated. Although I had terrible encounters leading up to this moment, the people around me didn't know that. People were looking, one person stared, two people kept glancing over and I felt uncomfortable, which did not help me calm down at all. I respect you for picking yourself up again so fast and thank you for showing different aspects of solo travelling.

Y’all I just know that when she goes back to Japan she’s coming back with full force. She’s gonna eat so good bc she’ll have a long list of veg restaurants ready (not that there’s anything wrong with the convenience stores…how I miss them 🤧). She’s gonna be so knowledgeable in Japanese that she’ll be able to hold conversations. I can see it now 🔥🔥🔥 But, honestly, I’m so glad that you got through this experience as hard as it was at times. You should be proud of yourself Via! Can’t wait for the next vlog 😊❤️

You’re not being dramatic at all! You’re being honest and sincere, and I hope people can see that. When you started crying it seriously broke my heart because I totally get feeling overwhelmed, overthinking everything, and being too hard on yourself. 🤧Traveling alone, let alone abroad, is such a big accomplishment, and everything, good or bad, is a learning experience. ❤

being anxious to be alone, especially when you don't speak the language as well as you want to, is such a valid fear. crying is normal, you're not being dramatic! Don't be sad about not speaking Japanese as well as you wanted Via🤍. You tried your best and that's what matters🫂. If people truly waited to learn a language before traveling somewhere most places on earth would not see many tourists, including Japan. Even though you said the taxi driver seemed annoyed the worker who helped you to get on a train to Harajuku seemed so gentle and kind when directing you and that is at the end of the day what is most important. When faced with the negatives of a day always remember the positives of it ⭐.

I went to Japan solo for a month last year and completely resonate with your feelings. It can feel very isolating from time to time, and especially when there’s so much fun things to see and do, but nobody else to experience it with. The language barrier can also be anxiety-inducing; I felt hyper conscious at times trying to not be a bother to other people Needless to say, you’re not alone! 🫶🏻

It's not just pretty with a nice music, it's a real preview of it ^^ I also hate to cry in public but well, I'm a very emotional person so it happens from time to time. I had to learn that it's better to cry and feel embarrased then keep it in myself - because that only makes me sob wayyyyy more later lol. But I'm so thankful that you are willing to share this with us - I love to see people on the internet more like human beings and not something not real. Your feelings are valid and it's good that you let that out and cried.💝 When plans are not going my way, if I don't acknowledge that I am getting upset, I just feel worse and worse. So letting that out and reflecting on it and coming up with a solution was a great way that you handled it! 💝 And that meant that the rest of the your time in Tokyo was more positive and you didn't have those anxious emotions dwelling in the background. Loving these vlogs, it makes me think that I need to do some solo travelling!!

I really appreciate your (Japan) vlogs so much, first YT traveling influencer that I came across that‘s actually mentioning all my own problems🙏🏼🥺 I will solo travel to Japan in Mai for my birthday and as a gift to myself for graduation, even tho it’s a big dream of mine I‘m so damn scared because my Japanese isn’t as good as it should be, so missing communication and understanding will give me a hard time there and that leads to overstimulation, anxiety, panic and being so damn lost. Your videos definitely comfort and calm me in some ways when I understand that other people have the same problems❤

awwww via 😢 my hear hurt a little when you cried. But girl!! it’s okay to cry so don’t ever feel bad about it and just remember you won’t ever see these people again so don’t feel too embarrassed❤
