Thank you for sharing this wonderful winter packing list, it's so helpful! I am from Indonesia, am going to Japan in January 2025. Living all my life near the equator, I totally have no clue what to wear and pack during winter trip.

My third visit to Japan! 17.1 to 10.2 😁 Always in Winter... I'm Swiss.. and a bit Italian😄, but if it's over 25°C... I'm suffering 🤷♂So perfect season. Protection against heat is difficult! Against cold... easy! Layers! I've got two big cool proofed insulation Jackets... for "Norway and up"... Helly Hansen, superior: T-Shirt, Jacket...done 👍Portable Sauna in this case 😅 They stay at home. Traveling? Naaaa... Thin layers against: Wind, Cold, Rain and combine them, as needed, easy... 😊

This videos reminds me to get a pair of snow spike for trip to Zao Mountain next year. I remember walking on a snow at Gala Yuzawa this year, it was slippery. For day trip, a foldable backpack (Muji, Decathlon, North Face, Mobi Garden) would come in handy to carry things and save space for the luggage.

Thank you for a wonderful winter video packing tips for Japan trip. Very detailed, clear and understandable information. May I ask for advice for which winter’s month to visit Hokkaido and Tokyo, to watch the 1st snow ❄️ fall and sunny day. Thank you again for a great and enjoy video.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi. For early snow fall, December would be good. Tokyo doesn't get a lot of snow days, so it would be hard to try to time it right to see snow in Tokyo. For Sapporo in Hokkaido, there have already been some snow days in November, but then it warms up and the snow melts. December would give you a better chance at actually seeing snow. ❄️ Heidi
@themutekiununbi4932Ай бұрын
@@KenshoQuest Thank you Heidi. Would it be more sunny day in February as it’s more fun to go to the snow when it is sunny rather gloomy day.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
@@themutekiununbi4932 Sapporo tends to be cloudy and overcast throughout the winter. I think getting a sunny day would just be luck. We did have some nice blue sky days when we visited in December.

Where to buy nice winter parkas in Tokyo for Hokkaido winters. Affordable price would be a plus.

In Tokyo you could check UNIQLO or Muji. There are many locations. In Sapporo you could visit the Sapporo Factory shopping mall or Mitsui Outlet Park. ❄️ Heidi

Try not to overpack! That's quite a range of destinations, so the weather will vary. We're in Tokyo now, and it's cold to us, being that we live in the tropics. Layering is key, so you can wear more layers when it's colder and fewer when it's warmer. 🌸 Heidi

Is it fine to wear hiking boots when exploring the big cities plus the lakes in the Mt. Fuji area in mid to late December? Are walking shoes good enough? I have both walking shoes and hiking boots, and I'm considering bringing them both, but they’re going to take up some luggage space. Thank you so much for these helpful tips. Your family is an inspiration. 🥰
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi. I think walking shoes would be more comfortable for exploring the cities. The Mt. Fuji area could get below freezing and snow in December. You might want the hiking boots for that part, unless you have any lighter weight warm shoes that you could wear. ❄️ Heidi

Hi. You could stay in Sapporo, and ski there. The ski areas in Sapporo are easier to reach than the more expensive resorts in Niseko. We enjoyed Sapporo Bankei Ski Area, since it had beginner lessons in English. And it's only about a 20 minute drive from the heart of Sapporo. We took a quick taxi ride. Here's more info about ski locations in Sapporo and prices for lift tickets: www.sapporo.travel/en/spot/feature/ski_resorts/

Because I filmed the clip in Malaysia. Didn’t want to make the video longer than necessary with a long-winded explanation. There are tons of UNIQLO stores in Japan, and also many stores in other countries.

Thanks so much for all the useful tips and information! How to get virtual Suica card for kids (10 and 11 years old)? Apple Wallet Suica is for Adult. Is there a big difference in the rate between adult and child if we only travel short distances within the city of Tokyo? Thanks.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi, glad the video is helpful! Unfortunately, there are no virtual IC cards for kids. This is because it requires a verification process. So if you want to save on your kids transportation it will require a physical child Suica which you can purchase at many JR stations such as Tokyo or Ueno Station. The rate, for child tickets are half, even for short distances. So I think you need to weigh whether or not it is worth the time waiting in line at the JR office, which can sometimes be an hour or even more... Here's our video on how to get a registered Child Suica card: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJPZgqiof8mCpMU
