Thanks for the video, once I build up my finances more I'd like to get one of these. Want to have a big backyard for him/her to run around in 👊.

I have raised 3 female American Akita's. They are wonderful family dogs. One key element is to recognize that their family children are so loved but they do not see other children the same way. I always made sure to protect my Akita the same way my Akita protects my family. I never put them in a situation where they could be harmed nor anyone harmed by them. My daughter grew up with my first Akita and she slept beside her bed for nearly 13 years. I knew I never had to worry about my daughter's safety because my Akita would do whatever it took to keep her safe. I enjoyed watching your video and I hope to see more.

You have beautiful dogs, thanks for the video. Akitas are often described as independent-minded, which can mean they can be difficult to train. Do you think there's a difference between American and Japanese Akitas when it comes to how trainable they are? How well do they respond to clicker training?
@arcticakitas764 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, these dogs are my life! No, they are similar in trainability , and yes, they can respond well to clicker training and positive reinforcement. Keep training sessions short and fun !

The video is good, but I've been studying Akitas and both the Japanese and American Akitas come from Japan. The book, "Dog Man, An Uncommon Life on a Faraway Mountain" is one example showing a guy who raised Akitas and his pictures go back to the last days of WW2 and you see his Akitas going up to the 1980s looked exactly like American Akitas. A video from a guy raising Akita Inus in the US and the last chapter in the book, "Dog Man...." simply said that American's simply didn't start looking for a different look and work with the Japanese breeders.

@@BigOldScout One of, if not my very favorite book 🤩🐾 what a life accomplishment of Morie , to do what he did 🙌🌟🐾 I love all Akitas

@@arcticakitas76 My favorite Akita in the book was Samurai Tiger. I also loved the one he gave to the mayor of one town because, though he won many competitions, he only lay around the whole day. My Akita is like that. He doesn't like leaving the house and prefers to lie in the corner, watching the world go by. I'm happy with his calm demeanor.

Are Akita’s good family dogs?

Excellent, Yes! If you want them to be tolerant of other people, dogs etc, you must take the time and energy to train and socialize them a lot ! They can become wonderful dogs , with the proper dedicated owners ✔✔

I've had both, my Japanese was the biggest dog in my area. Way bigger and more powerful than my American one - they weren't even in the same league. He was beautiful, white and grey. Both great with humans, the Japanese male was dog aggressive. Pretty much the exact opposite of your experience! Every pooch is different I guess

@@skyetalon9750 Thanks for your feedback. Of course there are always exceptions to every rule ; once in a while there are large Japanese Akitas and small American Akitas, but the majority of the time, it is the way I explained in my video. And I've seen many types of Akitas over my almost 20 years in the breed.
