@Lazarus-aap while I generally agree, I have had akitas or akita mixes my entire life and yogi was definitely more scared than angry, but scared akitas can bite and even a scared nip from an akita can be devastating Also I'm neurodivergent and reading animals is one of my hyperspecalized skills

Akitas are just like that. They need extensive socialization and even then you have to keep a watchful eye on them. They're a primitive dog breed, them and shiba inu are the most recent dog breeds to offshoot from wolves. Hence, they're more "catlike" than other dog breeds. Wolves don't act like dogs do, they're agile, clean, and independent (of humans).

Folks that have a pet with this type of bad attitude should seek professional help. If unable to afford it the internet is full of tutorials made by dog obedience experts. Yogi has the propensity to attack and bite someone. He could be trained to be a sweetheart. Good luck to Yogi's hoomans. 🐶

Many, MANY props and congrats to someone taking the time and putting in the effort to make this stunning boho a new, happy home. And many props to YOU, Vanessa, for keeping him calm and working with him to make his first groom a decent memory.

For a first groom, he did remarkably well. He wasn’t happy, but he never full-on lunged. You talking probably actually helped. You were soft and reassuring and respectful. The difference the right approach makes is so satisfying. Given the right situation, 99% of “difficult” dogs can be successfully groomed and treated by professionals or even owners. Even some of the 1% can have a “comfort” groom if needs must. Woof woof! 🐕

My husband an I have about 30 years of experience working with "dangerous" dogs. It turns out that we've actually met very few dangerous dogs. We have met dogs who are showing fear aggression and what typically helps is desensitization training. The more he goes to the groomer and the veterinarians office and has positive experiences the less he will fear these spaces. Thank you for taking him on, most would have probably denied grooming . It's people like you that will help this very handsome fella.

Akitas are really tricky animals to work with because they don't show a great variety of emotion and they can be grumbling about wanting a treat or grumbling about being really scared and it's hard to tell which. I've never owned one but I cared for my cousin's when he was in hospital and it was a steep learning curve. Lots of midnight and pre dawn walks to avoid other animals and people (and because the summer was stupid hot) but they can be such amazing friends once they bond with you. Yogi looked like he was giving you a dirty look after you took the muzzle off. 😂 Great groom Vanessa! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the Akita Inu… ever since I’ve got one I was completely won over to their side, such a wonderful breed… love mine to pieces.

What an Amazing Japanese Akita Inu💞❤💞❤️💞❤️💞❤️💞❤️💞 He's a Stunning Example of the Beautiful Breed, but he's also a Perfect Example of Just How Dangerous a Powerful Breed can become if they are not raised, trained, loved and treated right as they are growing up from a puppy to an adult dog😢 I'm so happy that his new family was willing and able to adopt him and give him a lifetime first home and I'm so very thankful that they found you Vanessa and that you were able to help Yogi with his first time grooming session ❤😊❤ Thank You For Everything You Do For All The Animals 🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾❤️ That Come To You For Help Vanessa ❤️🥰❤
