Akitas are just like that. They need extensive socialization and even then you have to keep a watchful eye on them. They're a primitive dog breed, them and shiba inu are the most recent dog breeds to offshoot from wolves. Hence, they're more "catlike" than other dog breeds. Wolves don't act like dogs do, they're agile, clean, and independent (of humans).

Folks that have a pet with this type of bad attitude should seek professional help. If unable to afford it the internet is full of tutorials made by dog obedience experts. Yogi has the propensity to attack and bite someone. He could be trained to be a sweetheart. Good luck to Yogi's hoomans. 🐶

Japanese Akitas and Shiba Inus are difficult dogs to rehome … they are very independent, loyal, and they NEVER forget! Many, MANY props and congrats to someone taking the time and putting in the effort to make this stunning boho a new, happy home. And many props to YOU, Vanessa, for keeping him calm and working with him to make his first groom a decent memory.
Don't leave out American Akitas, either. So many of the noises Yogi was making reminded me of my own American Akita Tomo when he complains about something he doesn't like. Vanessa dealt with him correctly, though. Keep talking, stay calm, go with the flow of the dog.
