Wonderful to watch you at work, my friend, and to hear you explaining the process so thoroughly for that wonderful tree! Thank you! I also loved the opening drone photography, as I am a huge fan of forests and mountains! Have a brilliant week ahead! 👍

Hi my friend,this japanese black pine is really beautiful,very strong trunk and good health! You did a great job during these two years. Actually now the needles are a little too short for this japanese black pine but surely from next spring you will know how to make them lengthen a little more. Congratulations and thank you for the video. Happy Sunday!👏👏👏

Beautiful tree. Although they do grow this far south on the planet (zone 10 in the US) I have decided to forgo growing pines and my channel deals mainly with tropicals. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you and enjoy your beautiful black pine collection!
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
You're welcome! In zone 10, if you ever feel the need to evolve and widen your variety, pines are definitely where you start. Even though the Japanese black pine is one of the best candidates, there are other species, more heat tolerant. I appreciate your comment, have a great week!

Great video. I was pleased to see that you could choose to prune below the typical location of the Apex to adjust the top silhouette. I might have to try it eventually. 😎👍
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
Thank you Jeffrey! Deciding to prune below last summers buds, either during decandling or in autumn to take advantage of the possible needle or base buds, is standard technique to maintain the shape. Cheers man!

Incredible bonsai! I see that you keep the fertilizer, do you keep it much longer?
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, here we have extended growing seasons so the fertilizer stays on until before the first frosts or until it is depicted. Usually I remove them at the end of November. Cheers!

Great lesson and very well explained. Question my jbp i had to let grow for health reasons also but is it normal that the last 2 yrs ive only had one bud at the end of each candle throughout the tree from this years growth? I havnt decandled for the health of the tree and our growing season where i live is not very long. Thanks
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
Yes it is, you can see that clearly evident on trees that are dug from the ground and lost up to 90% of their root system, they tend to do just a single bud on each branch tip for years. On the other hand, the sight of multiple buds on each tip is a sign of recovery, so hang in there! And don't decandle until you see signs of good health. Thank you Chris!

The soil you are using is this pure perlite?
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
It seems that way but no. For this one I used a mix of perlite, zeolite and pumice, but that was 2 years ago. I've now moved to a mix of zeolite and pumice 50:50 for my pines. Zeolite for agricultural use of course with pH of 6.9 at a 30% water solution. It works great for me. Cheers John!
@johannesbw_12582 ай бұрын
@@ArkefthosBonsai Would be 5-8mm ok?
@ArkefthosBonsai2 ай бұрын
@johannesbw_1258 yes, that would be the perfect size aggricates for most bonsai trees, especially medium and larger conifer trees.
