Bjorn how are you? I have a suggestion to make. Instead of saying week and month, like june, july... You could say, for example; first week of second month of summer. This will be very helpful for people on the southern hemesfere. Since the periods are different. Love your work!! Thanks for making so helpful videos! Have a nice day.. Wil from Brazil!! 🇧🇷

I don't know how that would help. The calendrical beginning of summer is the summer solstice, the meteorological beginning of summer is the 1st of June. That's the same for everyone in the northern hemisphere. "First week of second month of summer" sounds like a much more complicated way to just say "first week in July". I also believe most people got elementary school level math skills, so they should be fine calculating the accurate times.

As usual, a good KZbinr has to spend half their time pre-defending what they are doing from ignorami comments. Wonder if some time Bjorn could "walk us back" up a twig, from its latest bud, and show the history of it. Is ramification used to create zig-zag growth? Thanks for the intensity!

I have a Japanese Black Pine that needs to be re-potted in my coming growing season. Should I de-candle the tree in its current pot befroe re-potting, or de-candle the tree in its new pot ?

Very informative.. We apply mekiri techniques only after we have developed the appropriate trunk girth, right??? Or, can be it used on pre bonsai materials, of say 4-5 years??? Thanks
@LazyLightning56
@LazyLightning56 4 жыл бұрын
Bjorn, in one of your other videos, you stated that when cutting candles on highly refined trees, there are sometimes some candles a little stronger than others. You still cut candles all at the same time, but you leave a small stub on those stronger candles to slightly delay the second flush. On this particular tree, the candles were all uniform, but on another refined tree with slight variations in candle strength, does this technique still apply (leaving the stub on stronger candles)?

Bjorn, very useful information re: de-candling, you said where you cut you will get 3-5 new buds wont this stop back budding?
@jimijamesmarshall2328
@jimijamesmarshall2328 4 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, as you get 3-5 buds you will reduce this number to, generally, 2 per shoot. After you let these shoots grow and feed the tree you should see some back budding, if the tree is healthy that is.

Wouldn’t 1/4 inch needles actually be more in proportion? If that was a huge tree the needles would look tiny when looking at it. Or are there “rules” for needle size on the size of tree? 👍🏻 keep up the great content!
@EdwardDowner
@EdwardDowner 4 жыл бұрын
I think It's an aesthetic choice so more subjective of course. That I said I agree with him and feel it's more about proportion to trunk and branch thickness than overall tree height.
