Balut may be a common thing in PH but it is still an exotic food for most Pinoys :D it is ok if you didnt like it haha! a lot of Filipino doest like it too.

Sago at Gulaman Palamig made from water, brown sugar, gelatin and tapioca pearls, it tastes like Vanilla, or Muscovado (Kuromitsu) but watered drink version. Buko juice is very common drink here in the Philippines, you can find them roaming with their "Kariton" or a wooden pushcart around the city. There is a trend of a cuisine called Crispy Dinuguan in the Philippines. Balut can be eaten with salt or cocktail vinegar and sipping its soup inside, be caution; Balut can't be swallowed as a whole because it got a hard part or a white stone. There also a rare case of choking incident when eaten that part, but that's another story

As a Japanese-Filipina seeing this warms my heart! It reminds me of my relatives from Japan visiting the Philippines for the first time and my parents and I were introducing them all the great filipino foods for the first time (leche flan, adobo, sinigang, sisig, tocino breakfast, kinilaw, etc.) and they all had the same reactions! And I totally get the hesitancy of the balut, I reacted the same way when I first had it too lol. Next time try and season it with some spiced vinegar!
