i love your color choices!! they complement the fabric really well. also, the design itself is outstanding! 💕 i have a question about the kiriosae stitch: does it impact the shine of the threads underneath it?

Thank you! I'm very happy to receive your praise because I take color selection very seriously. If you use too much Kiriosae, it will affect the luster of the thread. It's important to find just the right amount. Thank you for your good question.😊

The filling stiches are going vertically and horizontally. How do you decide which goes where? The embroidery is exquisitely done! My compliments.

This technique often calls for stitching in the weft direction. Basically following the direction of the fabric fibres. You can see this fabric has distinct lines in it which she uses to line the stitches up evenly. Not as easy with other fabrics but it can be done.

刺繍って、糸で面を埋めるだけではなく、一針一針完全な左右対称に合わせていくのですね！これは目が疲れる…！汕頭刺繍の縫子さんは、一番目が良い10代の女性が一番いい、と言われるわけがわかりました。こんなに織り目をこまかく拾っていくのでは、少し目が衰えただけでも難しくなっていくのですね。

この図案の場合は左右をなるべく合わせたいなと思って注意して刺繍しました。おっしゃる通りで目が疲れました〜😅 そうなんですね！そう思うと年代によって得意な技法も違うかもしれませんね😲

Japanese silk (same kind used in kimono), and flat silk thread (it is raw silk, not spun into thread, just dyed)

I use Gofum (shell powder) to draw the sketch, the traditional way.

Oh also Pipers silks from England are also flat untwisted silk (floss silk) which you could try but it does not have as many silk strands per thread so you will want to double up for coverage. Helen m stevens uses this silk.

Japanese name is "Gofun".It's a Japanese painting material. I don't know if they sell it in stores overseas.

There is a seller in the US that ships world wide (Japanese embroidery Center) but the technique is not often used since there are other ways to transfer designs.
