The issue of understanding the Showa Restoration is, that one can not and should not attach it to single ideology (like fascism there for example). Movement for Showa restoration had only following common doctrines - monarchism, traditionalism, denial of democracy, militarism and postulate, that current Japanese politics and economy are thoroughly corrupt and only way is to remove them by force. In other regards, such as exact models of economy and inner affairs there were diametrally opposite ideals proposed by different members of ones and same factions ranging from state socialism to condemnation of etatism as such.

We will not know, whether it was will of His Majesty, The Emperor, his moral obligation to uphold the law or pressure from oligarchy, that forced Emperor's hand to quench incident of February 26th. We will not find out until His Majesty's diary contents are made public, what was his true opinion on the matter. I can say with certainity, that in political and social perspective their actions were in the best interest of His Imperial Majesty and our country. And no, I do not consider them evil.
@yosh3226 жыл бұрын
The Showa Restoration was more like stripping all the corrupt and wicked bureaucrats, industrialists, capitalists and senior officers of the army from the direct advice of His Imperial Majesty, and to once again restore the righteous. The zaibatsu and bureaucrats, in the viewpoint of the young patriots of the 2-26 Incident and from many incidents beforehand, led His Imperial Majesty astray from his duties and has become subservient to Western models and duplications (which was correct). Nowhere in their hearts were the common people, and the shashoku (soil and grain), only capital. Prince Chichibu (Emperor Showa's brother) had shown very heavy sympathy for these young patriots, but was essentially driven out of the way because the establishment and the bureaucrats did not want him to favour them. They are surely heroes and must be treated as such, and Prince Chichibu was absolutely right to show sympathy. The zaibatsu and bureaucrats were starving the rural areas for their economic expansions abroad, and most of the junior officers from the Army came from a rural background, as opposed to the senior officers who were descended from aristocracy.

Surprisingly good translation. However, I still think mine would be more precise in many places (also look at annotations at the bottom): Abyss of Miluo* river thunders with its waves Clouds above the mount Wu-Shan hastly gather flying In the troubleous world to spend our youth we have Righteous wrath burns inside, blood boils in veins Tycoons of great power in luxury may live, Fate of country does not bother them, as if it were another reality Plutocracy and wealth are what gives them their pride Grain and Soil they treat however with no soul or heart Alas! ones are prospering, but country is diclining Blinded they are dancing above human fates The rise and fall for people - for them no more than dream Human life for them is nothing more than a round of "Go" Of the Syouwa restoration under sky of spring For the greater good the heroes are gathered together With dead set of intentions, that is worth ten million soldiers From ten thousand branches cherry blossoms fall Stepping over decaying corpse Like a cloud, light is my heart In the time, when those concerned of a country will rise All is in vain, if there will be no song for a hero Be that wrath of The Heavens, or voices of The Earth** Everywhere is heard this strange echoing sound From the nationwide eternal dream Arise, the new dawn of Japan! Behold, how Nine Heavens are ready o fall And thundering are waves of Four Oceans They herald that times of change are here Above Japan is raging vespertine tempest Alas! derailed are both heaven and the earth People are walking the path of recreancy Among society steeped in pride and conceit Who would be the one to stand tall as a High Castle***! Heroic deeds are but traces of the dreams, Only thing, that never fades - it's simple sincerety Feeling by own human life and with own heart Success it is or failure, noone would judge Silence now, cacophony of plaintive melodies! The day for lamenting over evil times is now over! Our swords are drawn and moment to strike is now, Let them fall to spill the blood of purification! * - Miluo river is river where ancient Chinese politician Qu Yuan (340-278 BC) drowned himself in protest against politics of his native Chu state ** - Heaven and Earth there are way to refer to amatsu-kami and kunitsu-kami, or heavenly gods and earthly gods respectively *** - High Castle is metaphor for 'good example' **** - 離騷, which would translate into 'sorrowful/plainitive cacophony' is also referrence to poem "Li Sao", poem by Qu Yuan (not same Qu Yuan, as one who drowned himself in the river), where story of one of main protagonists, Peng Xian, looks like clear reference to Qu Yuan mentioned above.

One of Mussolini’s self definitions of Fascism was “everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state” The factions of the Army of the incident, while saying they wanted all power to go to the Emperor, were planning to give all control to the Army by abolishing democratic institutions to end internal opposition to the Army’s goals (nothing against the Army); putting a control to what was going on inside society (anti-westernization) (nothing outside of Army control) and also putting all the industries and the economy at the service of the military expansionism pushed for by the Army itself (everything even enterprises within the Army military complex) So while the centre of the idea is the Army itself instead of the state in this case, the vibe is still pretty similar IMHO
@fulviopontarollo29523 жыл бұрын
@Sukarno Yahudi I don't think any part of my explanation implied the businesses would be owned by the military, as direct ownership would not be strictly necessary in order to use strong influence, regulations and authorizations, incentives, deals or any combination of those in order to redirect the production (and more importantly the resources used and people employed in the research/development sectors of bigger businesses) of industries judged well suited towards specific kinds of products (e.g industries already working with steel products or vehicles etc etc) which would not have been prioritized in absence of a military takeover in that sense (as is, in my judgement, the same case for businesses "merely" pushed towards providing other non-military necessities to the state, here should also be noted those would be national necessities as interpreted and laid out by the military itself, be it because of ideology or judged basic necessities for any society or for an expected following rise of inner support) the military would be exerting its control over the economy

Both factions adopted some ideas from totalitarian and fascist political philosophies, and espoused a strong skepticism of political party politics and representative democracy. "Although Tōseiha followers gained control of the army, the Kōdōha ideals of spiritual power and imperial mysticism remained embedded in the army, as did its tradition of insubordination of junior officers (gekokujō), and resurfaced with the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937."
