I love when you guys use a Japanese word or phrase and then give an English translation! Edit: I feel guilty that countries all over the world have enthusiastically taken on learning English to accommodate Western media and consumers while, at least in America, we are culturally extremely ethnocentric about language. I love when my travel vlogs include some of the language of the location, it's interesting to me personally and helps combat that Western linguistic ego in a helpful way!

Americans speak many languages. It is a fallacy that they are monolingual.
@tracy29195 жыл бұрын
@@kenchin7878 It does depend on which part of American culture you're referring to. I'm referring to the mainly white POP culture which has dominated and encouraged non-white non-English speakers to conform. As an American, in my opinion, my culture has been extremely monolingual. It can't be a fallacy if it's not disprovable.

I just want to say I love you two and this channel rediscovered the love I had for Japan 20 years ago which started in a classroom trying to learn Japanese I've fallen out of continuing trying to learn the language due to life and responsibilities and never accomplished my dream of visiting but I must say I'm inspired once again. I love both dichotomies of you two. very much Japanese that speaks very good accented English and one who speaks English so well I'd swear you were American. both aspects are very difficult to achieve as I had a natural native Japanese teacher who came over to teach in America and my best friend was Japanese who was straight American and wanted to reconnect to his history and be less embarrassed to his father who ridiculed his ability to speak Japanese 😊 I hope you are inspired to continue as it helps bring us all together even when we are so far away

My handsome boys! Hontoni kakkoii, ne! I love your intro song too! So many places to add to my bucket list! Especially, Ichiran ramen. Brother Shinich, the yaki ramen dish that you had looked amazing! My okasama used to get a katayakisoba dish in Little Tokyo, that looked similar to your dish. I love ume anything, so to have little touches of ume, added to the different food(s), even sweets, YUM! The small dishes at Telas & Mico yatai, looked so delicious! How wonderful, that you chose the right yatai to visit. I’ve always wanted to try Nobu, here in LA, so your lucky to have picked a yatai with a former Nobu chef. Thank you both, again, for all of your hard work, at bringing us THE most amazing content!

Fukuoka is one of my favorite city in Japan. I was sad I was only able to stay for a day, but it captivated me in a short period of time. I did pass by the yatai, but was not able to experience since I was with parents who was tired from a full day. One day I'll be back with my travel buddy and explore the places you went to. One of my great regret was that I was traveling around Kyuushu but did not get to try Ichiran. I did buy their "instant" ramen!

Are these guys Japanese? I'm more interested in them than Fukuoka and its foods. Wait! OMG! As I take a closer look at Shinichi, I just remembered him! OMG! Over the decades, I've been wondering what happened to him. I haven't seen him in person, but I saw his blog long long time ago, perhaps 20 years ago. I remember that one of the photos I saw was Shinichi with Micky Mouse at Disney. Also, he loves her mother, which is just like me. ;-) Good to know that he is still well!
