Hey Siren, I think you have picked a great time to come to Japan. Whilst some say Japan is most beautiful in Summer, in my opinion as a Welshman and someone who lived in hot and humid Australia for 16 years, The Japanese Summer was mental in terms of heat! Autumn is absolutely gorgeous! When you come here, I highly recommend eating the chestnut-type cakes (Mont Blanc) as that is synonymous with Japanese Autumn and they are really delicious. If you don't have a Japanese family but want to gift things to people you meet on the way, then you can't go wrong with Omiyage. I'm really excited for you! If you happen to be coming to east Hokkaido, let me know and please let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to cover on the Channel . Thank you for the comment, Luke

What about a knife set plus something not seen as a cutting ties gift? (I’d be happy about a knife set. I wouldn’t let culture get in between me and free knife set)

Haha ! I have to agree. I love proper kitchen knives. I like watching Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White often talk about having sharp knives. I'm hoping to buy a decent set in the future.

So, what you're saying is that if I have friends in Japan... I give them four knives and nine scissors inside of a shoe and wrap it intricately in a Walmart shopping bag?
