I think some underlying issues are: - Some Japanese guys prefer 'cutesy' girls - Some 'cutesy' girls tend to be clingy, jealous, etc. - Their 'ideal relationship' can happen with said 'strong, independent' types - HOWEVER, these same guys are intimidated by or aren't attracted to these 'strong, independent' types What a paradox 😅

Trust me when I say I know but I feel this is a good reminder to those people who read manga and watch anime. They see an animated world and think omg I need japanese. I for one am one of them but I didn't exactly fool myself into thinking they were perfect but I do have my expectations. Thus I hunt for these real people videos to see REAL people in japan that way I don't look like a fool when I get there. lol But I will say they are still better than where I am by far, everyone has slept with each other by the end of highschool when they hit 21 they start spitting out kids and no one knows who the father is....terrible.

Manamal D - they are better in many ways... but there is so many fake people here and its difficult to figure out who is and who isnt... relationships are difficult unless they speak realy good english or you speak really good japanese... and don't expect their parents to accept a gaijin-in law...
@manamald29886 жыл бұрын
Eva Lise Højen Jensen this is another thing I had thought about actually tho having it pointed out kinda reinforces that it’s a thing to consider. With both situations have ways to work around( I’m learning Japanese so I’ve come across some bits of information to help) though I do consider myself a good judge of character. This will be to some extent useful when deciding whose fake or not anything else depends on context and situation. Too bad no previews with new ppl haha. For the parent that’s a challenge regardless unless they are super open about the idea. Though I am doing some searching to make a friggin thesis on this lol. Ultimately I have no issue with doing everything Japanese and by the time I go there I want to have the background for being capable of living there. Yet again all breaks down to context and situations but that’s kinda life in general. Luckily I don’t live in Lala land like some after the anime and such I like to have some form of preparation.my world has crashed one too many times especially relationships I’m apparently an enabler and it’s bad to want to take care of my girl. Sure it’s old school but for me it’s fulfilling. A portion of Japanese still have that mind set so it’s something to look forward to. Typing on a phone is scary lol didn’t realize I went and wrote a story sorry hahaha

Those poor boys! Honestly, I think the only anniversary which is important to celebrate is the annual wedding anniversary. I mean, seriously, why make a big deal out of monthly or half-year anniversaries for dating? Are they thinking it won't last long, so they want to milk it for all it's worth? There's a difference between treasuring every moment and placing unneeded stress on someone you supposedly care about.

@Dave_The_Musical_Fisherman6 жыл бұрын
Well when it comes to communication quality guys are higher up on the scale. My mother (most women really) can drag a sentence into a 3 minute conversation. Women gain more pleasure from communication than men do just as men obtain more from doing something (take videogames for example). It's not that the guy doesn't care how your day went but your mouth has been running non stop for an hour. Just get to the point. If you don't like Brittany so and so you'll go on about all the reasons she makes you angry. A guy delivers his message in a sentence by calling her a female dog. You both relayed the exact same intent. A girl can write a short essay on her lunch. A guy says his taco was really, really good. It's heavily based on culture where women talk more and that's how they raise their daughters. Father doesn't talk as much so son doesn't talk as much. We love ya and want you to be happy but we act differently. Imagine a boyfriend who is big on hugging and a girl not fully comfortable with it outside of family. It's just culture (Americans are pretty anti touch culture compared to many other areas of the world). Considering that you can hurt yourself by breathing too fast the phrase too much of a good thing might explain why we don't want to send 75 text messages every day.

I'd say the lack of social interaction, social pressure, and the media are a big influence of why they lack maturity. Many can't think for themselves, they also hide their true feelings, so the experience and lessons learned are very limited, thus not only women, but the men as well, seem to be lacking in maturity, since their culture does not teach them to think for themselves, rather follow the group like sheep.

I feel so weird having a what I consider a healthy relationship. Almost every person I know has had something bad to say about their relationship and I’m just like “why are you telling me tell your partner” “if that happened it’s a red flag and you need to leave” “this sounds like a misunderstanding if you just talked to them you’d probably wouldn’t be fighting”. A lot of times there’s problems in relationships because the lack of communication and expectations put on partners by each other. Maybe one is expecting the other to remember something or do something for them but they never actually mention it or bring attention to it and then get mad when the other doesn’t notice. Or something a partner did that made the other upsetting but they never said it made them upset so the next time they do it the other gets upset and the partner is left in the dark. This is just want I’ve seen in relationships and how I’ve made my own better.

A lot of those same problems in the west. And it goes both ways. When I broke up with an old boyfriend, he tried to badmouth me to anyone who would listen, but the majority of those he tried it on saw through his BS and called him out on it. I'll admit I've been guilty of the jealousy thing in the past but I've gotten better about it. As for date planning, that's usually a team effort between my boyfriend and I. Sometimes he'll plan a day, then I'll plan a day, or we plan something together.

ohh.. my husband is a japanese though and we celebrate monthsaries when we were at the dating stage. we don't really often do fancy celebration unless it is aniv, eating my cooking in our house and then competing in a computer game always works or just driving somewhere to flirt is good. so I think it is still based on the person's patience and level of affection to you. I asked my husband one time, "Am I too high maintenance?" but he just hugged me and said "大丈夫その方が好きなんだから or I like you that way so it's ok". if a guy really loves you A LOT they will make A LOT of effort as long as you give and take and respect each other's limit and flaws.

"Mr perfect" My boyfriend have finally stopped trying to buy me gifts, and appreciate when i have an opinion on what to do and where to go, and he gets really happy because i actually tell him how much i enjoy the things he plan, even if it wasnt my favourite thing i really get happy because he spends time on it! - maybe thats why he is putting up with my problems.. (yes jealousy and all that, also because he knows i dont want to be like that, but my past have shaped me bad) Boys need to figure out they dont have to put up with being treated bad in a relationship... Interesting, nice balance. I've seen some videos where Japanese girls complain about Japanese guys not being romantic or gentleman enough and don't take initiatives and are too shy and rarely want to approach them etc., but after seeing this I can somewhat understand why that is. I would probably rather be single too if the norm amongst girls are being too needy, controlling and expecting the guy to take ALL the initiatives.

Wanting to know what you're doing and who you're hanging out with is just showing interest in you and what you do in a day (although some people can take it too far and get angry over who you hang out with and start trying to control your friends which is a major red flag.) Wanting to know when you're going somewhere and when you're somewhere safe is just the need to know you're safe which again is from a caring angle. I will admit celebrating a relationship every month is odd. I've only ever seen people do that when they can't keep a relationship for half a year or more. Celebrating half a year the first year makes sense and then just every yearly anniversary. Personally in the beginning of the relationship I think whoever asks the person out to the date should plan and pay for it. It's always good to take someone to places you like and do things you like to do to share your hobbies with them. Once you both know eachother well then it's more of a tag team effort to plan outings Also the talking until sunrise and nonstop texting usually dies down after the honeymoon phase when you learned pretty much all you'll learn about eachother lol

I agree with someone who said it may be because she’s interviewing younger people... because I heard stories from the guys that made the women they’re dating sound very immature, but also sometimes the guys sounded immature as well lol. I’m sure the standards for planning everything and getting gifts is probably more intense in Japan, but it seems to be that expectations of girls are high even in the west here in the US. But I think usually as men mature they realize that there is importance in listening to their girlfriends and wives, and it’s really the little things that make the relationship worth it. It’s the moments where we share appreciation for the other person and treat them special that really matter. And conversely for girls, we do struggle to empathize with men in relationships, and sometimes having high standards can mean nitpicking everything they do... I think as we women mature, we learn to pick our battles, and to also reciprocate appreciation and let the guy you’re dating know that you appreciate their effort and their reliability :)

I think for the first month or 2 it should be the guy doing his best to impress the girl and her being very appreciative of all that he does for her. After that time the girl can decide how she feels. If she accepts him or not. That doesn’t mean use him for two months and leave.. what I mean is after the first month or 2 is when the relationship should become more serious and equal on both parts
