Couscous is one of the national dishes of Morocco, you can also try Tajine with prunes, Tanjiya, Bastilla, Rfissa. What I recommend is to visit the northern cities like Tangier to taste fish dishes, then the blue city Chefchaouen, then Marrakesh in the south, avoid big cities like Casablanca, Rabat and Fez. And one thing you should consider is that Moroccans love Japaneses people because they are respectful and hardworking, and don't mind it if someone identified you as Chinese or Korean because it's really hard to distinguish especially for Moroccan who have little contact with East Asia countries.

when the guy poured tea and did it again, it's not for the tea to get colder, it's a traditional way of mixing all the ingredients and the sugar inside the pot, we have to do it once before drinking it 😄

Hi George, ,, I noticed the great contrast between the Brazilian videos and the ones you are recording in Morocco... You know, in São Paulo you can find food from almost every country, including couscous. But I have to admit that what you ate was super tasty... I bet that after eating a lot AND drinking tea, your belly swelled... super full sensation...

Hi George! 😃 Here in Brazil we also have this dish. We call it Cuscuz, and it's very traditional in the northeast part of the country. I don't know how it become popular in Brazil, but i remember that when i was a kid my mom used to do it almost every day for breakfast. 🥞🍳 It's not exactly the same from Marocco but it's very similar.
@gamaai
@gamaai 2 жыл бұрын

I was so surprised to see you came to Morocco lol I hope you enjoy your stay ! The drink they gave you with couscous is actually buttermilk, and I think it's the "home made" and kinda more natural type which is more sour than the store bought one, maybe that's why it reminded you of yogurt. Personnally, I prefer the store bought one, the other is too sour and textured for me haha I'm looking forward to the rest of your travels! I wonder if you will be coming to Rabat 😁

LOL they gave you the buttermilk(not yoghurt) to drink it with the couscous it's traditional. So it dingests better and it actually tasts good with it because couscous can be dry and to get it into your system you need something to drink(soda is also fine). Also couscous is a big meal so if you buy 1 it is actually meant for 2-3 people.

For dishes try next time Rafissa , Basstilla, Tanjiya, Moroccan Mechoui (whole sheep or lamb spit-roasted on a barbecue, try it in Marrakech) , Harsha (a griddle- or pan-cooked semolina flatbread), Msemen full with vegetables or regular, Moroccan Soup (Harira) with Chbakiya (Moroccan Pastry)...and more and more 😁. Français Anglais in Morocco there is a diversity of dishes and culture in the north you will find the European culture especially in Tangier which looks like a Spanish city also tetoun which keeps in it the Portuguese culture Chefchaouen keeps the Andalusian and Jewish culture Casablanca looks like a city with a rather French aspect the middle of Morocco is influenced by the Arab culture when in the south it is very rich in African culture but there is also the Berber culture which reigns over the whole country I advise you to visit chefchaouen Tangier saouira Fez tetouan agadir the mount toubkal ...

George, I am wondering about the Japanese concept of consomme' as in the west it is a very clear and "clean" soup with only a subtle taste profile, whereas in the Japan videos, it seems that any non-thick soup is called consomme'.

great video as always. just in case the sweetness of the tea bothers you, you can always ask them not to add the sugar by saying "bla sukar" in darija or "sans sucre" in frensh . looking forward to ore videos
