Wonderful to learn so much about this plant I have in abundance in my garden. I love the scent and so pleased to discover it has many medicinal uses. Great video to watch, with a clear spoken voice and unobtrusive background sounds.

Great information. I wasn't aware of the many benefits. How does it lower blood sugars exactly? Thanks Jack!
@PowerfulPlantAllies4 жыл бұрын
So after looking deeper into it, it appears that the polyphenol constituents found within the plant (flowers and some berries of non toxic species) actually help to prevent cardiovascular diseases, certain cancers, lower blood sugar levels, and even reverse or prevent type 2 diabetes.

Great question! I hope that helped :D

Hi Jack just stumbled upon your channel. So glad I did. We have a white and pick form in our garden in Lancashire Uk. Would this still be safe to use as this Japanese form you speak of here. 🌿🐝

This was so great. Wonderful and interesting information that I didn't know. We spent summers down in Harwichport on the Cape and had Honeysuckle all along the long driveway. The smell was So nice and strong! I'm not sure what type of Honeysuckle is was though! The Hydrangeas on the cape are just incrediable, they say the salt air helps them but not sure if that is actually true but they Do grow bigger for sure. Great video! I'll let my friends know about your awesome channel!

What if you ask the plant permission to harvest and the plant says no and you still harvest? 😅

I harvested a bunch that were killing my tree. It’s early in the season so there are just leaves. How can I use just the leaves? Will I get any thing helpful from making them into a tea if I drink the tea? Thank you.
@PowerfulPlantAllies2 жыл бұрын
You can Kilroy! The leaves have been used as an antiviral and a powerful anti inflammatory ❤️🌍

we made the mistake of dumping a bunch of branches that fell during ice storm in a area that had raspberry bushes that produced lots of raspberries. but like a year after we did that teh honeysuckle took over seems they love fallen branches to get off the ground and make sure nothing else will grow below

Oh yes! They are terribly invasive. I just gave a class presentation on invasive plants, and I used the example in this video of it wrapping itself around the cherry tree. Crazy how it can totally engulf an area in a matter of months or years.

yeah, now how do I kill it and keep it gone for good?
@PowerfulPlantAllies Жыл бұрын
The best way that I have found is to pull up as much of it as you can. Try to minimize the spread. Happened Honeysuckle spreads through tendrils, which are essentially aerial roots that spread along the vine. If even just one of those is left behind, it will grow and begin to spread again. Honeysuckle is definitely a pest! You can also use herbicides to get rid of it as well. Both methods are effective sometimes, and not so effective other times. Keep me posted on your progress!

@@PowerfulPlantAllies thank you :) I have 10 acres of nothing but honeysuckle, and the trees that just happened to be here before it became infested

@@CharlieKellyEsq I’ve been considering doing a honeysuckle video based solely on how bad of an invasive species it is. If you would like to contribute some pictures for the video my email is jstanis103@gmail.com. I hope you are able to get it under control!

@@PowerfulPlantAllies absolutely, I'll be out sometime this week to pull up the younger ones, in the middle of the woods it's just a canopy with nothing but dirt underneath
