You’re right. There have been NIH studies that have proven that more sterile homes lead to allergies. Pet-free homes and high-temp dishwashers are both associated with risk of developing allergies. A friend of mine came from a home with very limited food exposure. She and her siblings all had a variety of food allergies. Between the 3 of them, there were at least 20 foods they couldn’t eat.

I have this herb growing all over on my property ( time stamp 3:45) I'm in south west oregon at 1800 ft above sea level. and heard no no no, not even bees eat it. wow I can hardly wait to get busy with this beautiful herb that smells fantastic. I thought it was in the mugwort family. but found it to be rag weed. I planted golden rod to give my pollinators food in the dearth.

You knew many people used plants for medicine because so many plants were brought from the Old Country to this country On Purpose. The Indians, of course, used what was available and learned each plant's use. What a shame that so much knowledge was lost over the years. I have both kinds all over my yard and deep East Texas. I've noticed over the years my dog eats both plants. I had the theory that she was eating them for her allergies. She doesn't eat grass. Just those two plants among a handful of other plants around the yard and woods. I have giant ragweed out here 2-3 meters tall & common ragweed 1-2 meters tall.

I see these leaves in my yard and for a heartbeat I think it's a passionfruit (passiflora incarnata) and then realize it was just "that weed I always think is either Sassafrass or passionfruit before I'm disappointed" . But now I know what it is, thanks!

Quercetin, Bromelain, Diamine Oxidase, ACV, and Stinging Nettle leaf are also good options. For topical, I just rub an onion on me (and/or ACV) - works great.

​@@grammlin If you are interested in an all natural ACV. Save your apple scraps, cores, skins, etc. You can freeze them until you have enough to fill the jar you are going to ferment in. Fill the jar, but do not pack it. Make sure you let it all defrost. Add about 3/4 cup of sugar per quarter jar. Add distilled water and dissolve the sugar. I usually add about a teaspoon of yeast (I use my baking yeast). Cover the jar with a piece of cloth secured by a rubber band. Set it aside in a warm space away from direct sunlight. You basically are making wine and then allowing the air to change it to vinegar.

Supposedly if you take a spoonful of raw local honey every day during allergy season the pollen spores in it will help reduce allergies. I don't have allergies so I just use honey in my tea because I love it.

Thank God, but he has gotten severe hives a few times. So what’s he do…. He gets a job working for a lawn & landscape company. He’s in his 4th year working there. He’s a foreman now. His allergies have improved a bit. They’re still bad but much improved too. He just pushes through bc he loves his work. I had really horrible fall allergies. Lungs would fill up with fluid. Started keeping bees. I would bottle up whole comb honey largely because I didn't own a honey extractor at the time. That whole comb usually had cells filled with pollen in them. Long story short a couple of seasons eating that and I no longer had fall allergies. No more than about a pint jar's worth per season. The very first season I had relief. The past couple of seasons I haven't even jarred up or eaten any honey. This fall will be a good test. So far so good.

I had seen a video on Giant Ragweed where they said the native indians even made a soap with the ragweed leaves & cooked down fat or another available base to make the soap. They could scent the soap with native flowers or mint. It was like an antiseptic soap.

I'm gonna venture to guess that with antihistamine properties, ragweed soap would be good for skin rashes or hives due to allergies. Adding mint to it gives you the "cooling" effect of the menthol to help reduce irritation.

A friend used to live in an apartment. He had a garden box outside of his door where some rag weed was growing. Some guy came along and wanted to buy them and offered him $10 per plant. He came back and transplanted them into pots and paid $40 for 4 plants. He thought they were cannabis🤣👍

I have this on my property in WNC. I used an app and it said it was wild carrott. Thanks for the additional information on what to look for on the plant. I'm wondering can my Shihtzu use it for her allergies. They have such large eyes, they just run. In Summer months it's worse. The medicine she was on Claritin didn't really do much and so she is on another human medication, but it makes her drowsy like me when I take it. She has been having reverse sneezing and it's hard to watch. I took her to emergency vet a week ago. I'm just wondering if she can take those medications why couldn't she take something natural.
